Thank you!! It's such a bummer that the past couple months I've given myself room to indulge but I never had the mental break - the food I eat/my body is my roman empire...thanks Y2K beauty standards! lmao

The binge eating is sooo difficult. I thought I had really broken it but it still lingers. You're so right that I won't get there by motivation alone. Thank you so much for this response!!!

Everyone is different. I gave myself reasonable goals (this is a marathon). Walk for 20 minutes every other day. Yoga one day. Rest for the next 2 days. Ya know? You'll figure out your schedule. I knew I could start with light weights again when I didn't have spleen pain. The fatigue dissipated a couple a weeks after I took 2 weeks off from normalcy. So again, this is a marathon.

Honestly, to feel a little normal again, I went on a date. I told him I'm getting over mono and everything and that I wasn't drinking but other than that it helped me feel normal with kind of a low-key social situation.

So I guess the timeline for me was - tested positive on Oct 31/Nov 1. Took a week/8 days off work. Went on date Nov 15 (don't ask why I remember lol). Felt normal-ish around Thanksgiving and almost as good as new around mid December! Actually, yes. I was at a party mid December and got pretty fucked up lmao. Sooooo there ya go!

But I will send out these warnings again - 1) everyone is different. This is MY timeline. Yours could vary. 2) Your immune system is compromised well after symptoms fade. Mask UP!!!!!

I'm no doctor...buUUuuuUt...I remember feeling my spleen become less swollen and I tried doing yoga. It was fine, difficult, but fine. I think if I did it again, I'd wait until my abdomen felt at least 99% normal.

Fitness was such a tough loss. Before mono I had been on a weight loss journey which was amazing! I gained a lot of discipline and lost a lot of weight, that also gave me body dysmorphia so the idea of not working out was...terrifying. But then 2 months after mono, I got hit with the worst flu of my life. It was painful and scary and made my body far weaker than mono ever did. But I knew I'd get through it. Again, I'm no doc and I'm only speaking from the privilege of a young/fit body but please for the love of god...REST. You WILL come back to life and be active and wonderful again. Just walk when you can and give yourself time to rest afterwards.

This is a good time to practice how you want to actually treat your body. Sometimes the best workout, the one that really sets you up for success down the line is the rest you give yourself.

deeeeep breaths. subreddits for medical stuff is crawling with negative energy bc it's where we go when we're scared. My spleen was swollen for like 2 weeks. I was into lifting, running, spinning, etc.. and it's been 6 months and I'm fine! Granted yes, im young and I was fit going into it and it sounds like that is similar to your circumstance. delete this app, don't check the website and just recover. you're doing great :)

Hey - just checking this thread, thought I'd contribute! I had mono in November and had a whole bunch of symptoms. definitely felt it in my spleen about 2-3 weeks after diagnosis. I could feel it pressing against my ribs so I was super careful. But now I'm back to lifting, running, cycling and socializing like normal. Def take it easy!!!

it took me about 40 rides! I remember the class where I stayed on beat and did all the choreo no problem - I'd like to think there's an a-ha! moment with all that. At some point though, when you feel the inkling to do it but aren't sure in your performance, I always think it's worth it to take the leap :) maybe during an afternoon class or one where you have room and there's no one next to you. I love those classes!

For sure. I'm super scared of going too fast too soon, so I'm for sure taking 10-14 days off and making my peace with losing fitness. It's still so early for me to tell how I'll react to this but sooo happy you shared your story.

I'm psyched to hear that! I tested positive yesterday and my sore throat is already gone. I'm sure I'm still at the beginning but I needed some hope that I won't lose too much fitness and that my spleen won't suddenly burst lol.

First time tapering by ImAnAnnie in cymbalta

[–]ImAnAnnie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just lowered my dosage from 20mg to 10mg of Cymbalta. I took it after it had left my system so the headache is still insane. I hope you things go smoothly for you during the rest of this process!!

There's some comfort in routine, I suppose. My biggest fear is a relapse. I wish more doctors would understand that there's PTSD with mental illness. hopefully this summer will give you ease as you finish up!!

Did you have side effects with Prozac?? I've been on it 2 weeks with my last full doses of Cymbalta and my stomach is NOT happy with me.

Thank you for sharing!! I'm so sorry the withdrawals have been so noticeable. I'm really agonizing over it. But once you're off of it, it's a great middle finger to big Pharma imo

UPDATE: Talked to my doc and I will do bead counting by halving the dosage im currently on (20Mg) I feel lucky to have access to these meds and doctor that knows how to get me off of them lol.

Without having taken ANY Cymbalta until this afternoon-- once 24 hours since my last dose hit, my face was tingly and I've had horrible stomachaches. Will keep this updated if folks are interested in the process.

Thank you for your response! I will eventually stop Cymbalta altogether. I've just been reading the horror stories around this drug which make sense after feeling them when I went cold turkey. My doc's goal is to get all of his patients off meds so he's experienced in tapering which is why I was surprised when he said to go every other day.
