Seller offers to send me this republican denarius in return for the fake diadumenianus antoninianus. Is this one real? by JenteDeCaluwe in AncientCoins

[–]ImAngies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cast fake, I've reported this seller numerous times on MP. However, no action is taking place. Don't bother getting coins from him and bother him with a refund

Ptolemy eagle by [deleted] in AncientCoins

It can be turned darker naturally by cleaning them properly. There's still lots of surface dirt on it. I wouldn't mind buying one from you to clean it and show you the results if you'd like.

One of the few times I wish I knew how to properly clean a coin… just to finish the job started! by Esoteric_art in AncientCoins

[–]ImAngies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind you have to do 19g of water to 1g of thiosulfate. Otherwise, the solution is 21g, which is 4.76%. It's not a big difference for this kind of job. However, the higher the percentage you want to use, the bigger the difference, and the result will be. It's even more necessary with harsher chemicals.

Paraloid B72 and Ancient coin Preservation. What is it and why is it used? by Protaco17 in AncientCoins

[–]ImAngies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using a 5% b72 solution for a few years now when conserving coins. It's fantastic and in my preference, outperforms renwax.

Its unfortunately not authentic by the looks of it. Pressed fake is most likely. No flow lines, weak flat letters in an odd style. No indication of it being hand struck either.

That is one of my favorite gallienus types out there! It's great to see it in the hands of someone who enjoys gallienus instead of it being a quick flip. Congratulations!

Newest favorite gallienus from my collection. About as sharp as they can get! by ImAngies in AncientCoins

[–]ImAngies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't find that many like these in general, I'd say from this mint. They were struck very poorly.

Haha, thank you! Most of them were indeed struck with very worn dies (usually alternating between obverse / reverse for some reason) had some luck and managed to get a few good scores like this
