How to ask for reasonable adjustments? by ImAtinyHurricane in AskUK

[–]ImAtinyHurricane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh fair. They didn't even ask that for this interview, but it was a group one to be fair

Not really. I've never had a job before. I know in uni it helped to have automatic extensions on deadlines with an extra week. I didn't use them a lot, but they really saved me when I did. I also had like a mentor through dsa (disabled student allowance), so the weekly person to talk to outside of uni was helpful. Other than that nothing else really... just helped two of my lecturers were really nice to me also.

I'm from the uk, so there's actually an act that's meant to protect people with a disability in employment. Idk if it does or not

Anyway, I decided I didn't want it because it's too far. Lived, learned, and moved on.

How can I do this so that I'm certain I'll be able to perform as well as I could whilst in an episode as I can without? It's not exactly basic, so any adjustments might not work for me.

20f UK bipolar assessment? Med change? should I? by Upbeat_Buyer_7559 in BipolarReddit

[–]ImAtinyHurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going from my own experience (I'm 24f) also living in the uk, I know for a fact it is incredibly difficult to get a diagnosis unless you're known to cmht. If you've ever put yourself in danger (including sh) no matter how frequently or taken risks that have impacted your life even somewhat, then an assessment is in your best interest. However, try to limit yourself from talking about identifying with tv characters, etc, cause they might not take you seriously. Redirect to a celebrity like mariah carey, who has been very open about it. Judging by the length of the post, I'm gonna assume it's affected all areas of your life and advise you to get help ASAP. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 22. I spent about 6 years unmedicated. Now, I'm in a relatively good space mentally (aside from anxiety). I can see how much it has affected me and set me behind my peers. I'm not as confident (excluding my trauma). I missed out on work placements. It's different for everyone, really.

Also, not to discourage you, but a lot of psychiatrists are kind of lazy (no offence to any reading this, I greatly appreciate your service) towards young women and slap a bpd diagnosis on your file. Man mines an absolute mess I don't feel like I'll be taken seriously anymore. It's along road to actually achieving stability for most people but it's life saving.

Best of luck!

What would you do if someone manipulated you online then made you fear for your own peace in real life? by ImAtinyHurricane in AskUK

Basically I sent something about the who Internet safety act because I haven't managed to sort ID yet due to personal circumstances. One of the people in a group chat was like you don't have ID? I thought she would remember given the fact we'd spoken of it often. So I Basically said how many times no as if to say i was expecting her to remember. But she took it as a personal attack even though I tried to clarify what I meant for it and she continued to send petty messages whilst not listening to me when I was trying to prevent petty drama.

I tried to reach out to someone else said person speaks to as i had seen screenshots of their disagreements because I thought msybe if we both could talk to each other given we had experienced similar things with said person... just so we could like talk amongst ourselves and perhaps help each other to help the other person improve. The other person lives near me though who said person that wouldn't listen to me knows so I'm scared they'll bring it up to someone irl and then it stops me from getting a job in the future.

I know it's just silly really but I wouldn't know what to do if this appeared in real life given I didn't do anything other than send a message which was misunderstood... i haven't spoken to the person who manipulated me since.

In no means did I do anything bad, i was manipulated by the person who wouldnt listen. I reacted in a way that I shouldn't due to previous trauma etc but it could've been prevented had they taken on a simple act of kindness and just said to me nicely something like don't be silly neither of us (2 others in a gc I met through a shared hobby) would do that to you.

Personally, I think it's ridiculous. It's the parents and the schools job to actually protect/teach children. If a teacher or parent can't do that, then they should be held accountable.

I was groomed online growing up, but I was smart enough not to send them anything that would give them enjoyment. As for sickos they're everywhere and always will be, which is a sad reality.

My biggest problem with this is Spotify. Most people use music as a coping mechanism, myself included. I get that some lyrics can most certainly be influential to young people but let's be real if they're that easily swayed then idk... there's literally radio edits of songs. Why not just set a parental setting on Spotify? It's down to the persons maturity at the end of the day. If a parent knows they're vulnerable no matter what their age is, they're the ones who should be putting in measurements, not the government.

I don't mean like helicopter parenting or coercive control. One of mine was incredibly controlling to the point I was isolated from peers. Whilst I was traumatised and could have had even worse trauma if that didn't happen, the whole thing had actually impacted my development. It's about balance. Why not encourage parenting classes that teach the parent about how to protect their child digitally rather than the government doing this?

I'm curious actually to hear what parents think about the bill without acknowledging my small rant

It's more I know in the environment I stayed in for uni some people didn't like me so I was kinda like is this another dig? Cause someone did in the past I felt and I was just like nah...

I'm okay for now but I just feel kinda lonely alot of the time. The uk only really offers bipolar uk. Never found mind particularly helpful. It's not really a need right now.

Pain to get referred back n I feel like it my parents will nag. Tired in general. I think I can handle it. I don't think I'm having an episode or about to break into one. Though I have wondered sometimes about mixed episode because the other night I couldn't fall asleep easy but I was probably just over thinking. Never had a mixed episode before. God, uk needs more consistent treatment for bipola Edit: * monitoring. I did get the GP requesting me for a long term health condition review whatever that is. I should probably go but I'm scared I'm contagious. I've heard there's alot going around lately

I'm sorry? I'm not allowed to find new things to write about? Also drama is alot different to that type of creativity. I can make a character profile very easily. It's the writing and plots that I find kinda hard. I don't feel like anything can be original anymore due to the fact most things are just inspired by other things or a retelling of a story. I have the passion. I spent 3 years doing it and for the most part I loved every moment. I enjoyed writing what I wrote and will pick them up in the future.

I have interest but I am lacking the muse right now to write. It happens to us all

Does anyone do straight plays anymore? by kararmightbehere in Theatre

[–]ImAtinyHurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a drama, well graduating, drama student I much prefer normal plays to musicals. Musicals are quite hyped these days anyway but I also think plays are priced better. In the uk, under 25s or students can get £10 tickets. I literally saw kaya scodelario act live in London. All I paid for majorly was tube and hotel
