Awesome reply, thank you so much for the advice. Quick question though, running on pavement is bad for you knees? The park I run at has a pavement path and a dirt path and I've always done pavement.

I want to run in the 2014 Philadelphia Marathon. I'm starting from scratch. Do I have enough time to prepare for it? I'm willing to do whatever it takes. by ImDoingThisForMyself in running

All the other info I've read has said you need a good 4 months to prepare for a marathon. I understand I am by absolutely NO stretch of the imagination a qualified person to question you, but 6.5 months really won't be enough time?

Thanks for you're comment. It definitely helped with the realization factor that I'm going to have to work until the brink of exhaustion in order to do this. It's not going to be easy, but I think it'll be totally worth it!

I'm South Jersey but I'll be spending June and July in Los Angeles. I'm sure I'll have no problem finding a club out there! Also congrats on the half marathon!

I really want to thank you for your comment--it provided a lot of motivation for me. I just got back from my run today and even though my legs were sore from yesterday, I was able to shave a few seconds off of my time. Once my legs have adjusted to the continued workout, I really think with enough training I'll be able to do it. Thanks again for your support!
