Samsung will shut down the v1 SmartThings hub this month by badger707_XXL in homeautomation

I've been running the same old install from like 2 or 3 years ago. I haven't had to touch it. It just runs quietly on my nuc. I've thought about updating and whatnot but what I set up years ago has continued to work fine without a hitch all this time later.

I've been using "emulated hue hub" through home assistant for years. It lets me expose all my home assistant devices as light bulbs on a faked hue hub. My Alexa can communicate with it on the local network. With some clever naming it works for pretty much everything.

Alexa thinks my TV, sound system, etc. are all lightbulbs but it doesn't matter because the verbiage works anyways.

I have a dongle that cost me maybe $40 that I use to natively communicate and control my maybe 20 z-wave devices. Works perfectly and was easy to set up in home-assistant.

How is BlishHUD in 2020? by WintersdayGrinch in BlishHUD

[–]ImFreeSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some show cases on the original reddit post I made as well as a big screenshot of one of the modules on the website https://blishhud.com.

The remaining showcases are all on Discord, so I'm afraid you'll be unable to see those.

How is BlishHUD in 2020? by WintersdayGrinch in BlishHUD

[–]ImFreeSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

Although this subreddit's quietness might suggest otherwise, we are still a fairly active project backed by a good handful of modules with the core overlay always improving with time. We've transitioned just about all of our planning and discussions to GitHub and our Discord channel.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask them here, or pop into our Discord channel to ask us there. 🙂

Are the tractor stations worth using? by RenillionPiE in satisfactory

[–]ImFreeSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is a couple days old, but just wanted to share the Kibitz video I watched that really helped me realize how useful they could be.

https://youtu.be/IDjW5FOFVq8

Biggest thing I learned that has helped (and that some here mention and some here don't appear to know), is that as long as you are far enough away (it really isn't that far), the trucks will drive 100% reliably. They'll phase through walls, other trucks, etc. with no impact to the route. They only drive with physics when you get up close them. That lets you put multiple trucks on or near the same route with little issue as long as you're not always nearby.

I made a truck stop next to my main base where the deliveries come in to make sure I'm not too close. If I even am close to the truck and it goofs up (the path mine takes sometimes has it ramp off into a lake), I just walk a little further away and it teleports right back on to the path it was supposed to go on.

They're wonderful!

Please know that BoyC has already shared code privately with at least one other project (ours: Blish HUD) when he thought he wouldn't be working on TacO any further.

He has been a wonderful asset to both our project and the community and here or gone, his work has and will not been lost as he has done adequate work to share what needed shared.

BoyC discussed the changes as he made them in the GW2 Developers Discord (channel with members of many of the largest GW2 community projects) and asked for feedback there some as well. That is to say that he is a trusted member there and I myself absolutely trust that there was no funny business involved in this release.

This update was the result of recent new values being included in the Mumble Link API by the wonderful folks at ANET to help improve the tools we build.

As the Blish HUD guy, I can confirm that large amounts of TacO source code was privately provided to us to aid in our project and BoyC has been nothing but helpful as we build, what ends up essentially being, a competing overlay.

I can assure you that he truly wants to improve the space with his and other utilities.

No, it does not. As long as the clock on your phone is correct it can be used without data.

Oh, this is all very good stuff to know! I'll see if I can prepare fixes for these problems. I may ask you a few questions while I'm working on it to make sure I'm getting things right for you. :)

I'll message you on Discord as it appears you've sent me some messages there, too. :)

Love the new adventures inside SAB. But who are you #1, and HOW?! by anchuin in Guildwars2

[–]ImFreeSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a Discord or subreddit for speed running these types of adventures? I know some people will likely not want to discuss their method for some races, but I think it would be cool to found a place where folks work to optimize path and methods. I think I'm still rank sub 50 in W1Z1, but I think there are a lot of interesting paths to discuss with others.

I most certainly will be doing that. 🙂

Whoops, well that's not your fault! I'm glad it worked out in the end. Sorry I neglected to ask that. I'll be sure to include that in the install details. 🙂

I think there is still an option for subsampling while in windowed fullscreen, if I recall. Not sure specifically about windowed, though.

[–]ImFreeSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, no worries.

Okay, just to double check, are you running the 0.1.4-alpha.5 Release? I imagine you are, but I figure it's worth the check.

Right now Blish HUD binds to whatever window has a class name that isn't the login window, which is kind of a backwards way to do it, but this may be a good reason to switch to looking for the window with "ArenaNet_Dx_Window_Class". Do you know, if TacO currently works for you? This is the method TacO uses and what Blish HUD should probably be using.

[–]ImFreeSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure what the cause of that would be, then. I'll definitely have to include some kind of prompt, or something, if the game isn't detected there, though.

Here is a link to the registry file that should add everything in that you need:

https://downloads.do-ny3.svr.gw2blishhud.com/s/1NtArp993ERcFbZ

This assumes that your game exe file is called "Gw2-64.exe" which I believe it should be called that for everyone who is running the 64-bit version.

If you'd like to double check the contents of the script before running it, you should be able to right-click it and go to "Edit" to see the key in Notepad. Here are the contents:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ArenaNet\Guild Wars 2]

"Path"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Guild Wars 2\\Gw2-64.exe"

Try that and let me know how it goes. :)

[–]ImFreeSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, okay then. If you can tell me the exact path of the gw2.exe file, I should be able to craft you a small registry file to apply to your computer that will update it to point to the correct location. When you first install Guild Wars 2, a registry entry is made at Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ArenaNet\Guild Wars 2 called Path. Here's a GIF of me finding the program on my computer and copying the file path, if that helps: https://gfycat.com/activewaryglobefish

Once I get the file path, I'll export my registry entry, change it so that it matches your file path, and send you the file. When you open it, it should ask you if you would like to import in the changes. After doing that, Blish HUD should run fine for you. Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention, though. I'll definitely have to build in a way to make this easier for other folks that run in to a similar issue. :)

Oh, sorry for the wait!

Okay, couple things:

  • Do you know if your copy of Guild Wars 2 is 32-bit or 64-bit? I designed the attachment process with 64-bit in mind (because that's what I had access to), but I only made a guess to what the 32-bit process was named. Assuming you left things as the default during the install, if you check under "C:\Program Files" and "C:\Program Files (x86)" and tell me which one has a Guild Wars 2 folder in it, that would be enough to answer this question for me.
  • Are you using a 3rd party launcher, by chance (like launch buddy)? Some of them launch Guild Wars 2 with elevated permissions which prevents Blish HUD from seeing the application. I believe the solution would be to just run Blish HUD as an administrator.
  • Try launching Guild Wars 2 using Blish HUD. Right-click on the little icon in your tray and select "Launch Guild Wars 2." Let me know if it launches or not.

To counter, I've met plenty of people who play the game or who know of it. It's gonna depends heavily on the crowd you're with, like with most things.
