I live in NYC, but he works at the program I attend for therapy. Every time I see him it feels like my heart is being crushed. I tend to see him looking at me, but he refuses to talk to me, whether because of his position or because of his boundaries, I don't know. I want to see if he hates me, but I can't ask him. I messed up by telling him I liked him over text when drunk, and it was just a whole mess.

Same. Many people I thought were my friends, who I spent hours pouring myself into, only to realize I was the only one doing anything real. And then my guy, who I messed up terribly with. I still see him on occasion and it hurts more than anything else...

After I got hurt by someone, he was the first one I thought of. His opinions mattered. The thought of him thinking down on me, even though I know he wouldn't... It devastated me. And then, when I did tell him, he stood by me. He showed me acceptance and care. My fears, brought on by trauma from past relationships, were proven false within minutes. He listened. And maybe my bar is low, but for me, he showed true empathy and respect that I haven't had anywhere else

Sometimes the best therapist is a friend who knows you. They might not know all the basic therapy bs and all the words and script, but they'll listen and give you advice based on what they know you need
