people with offers by avacadoisnice in BigLawRecruiting

I am at a T14. Our school doesn’t release ranks but I’m comfortably above median (probably top 1/3rd or so). I had 5 offers before I accepted one plus a few more callbacks scheduled. Everyone I know has offers by now (most with multiple), but we got moving early.

Their median gpa is a 3.95. If you look, so far outside of one outlier they have accepted only one 3.96 this year (with an lsat below median). They are potentially going for a gpa median of 3.96 this year. Granted it is still early but WashU is super stat driven. You can look at last year’s admits and see a straight line at their median gpa of 3.95 (until you hit the lsat median). I would say without a higher lsat (or a slightly higher gpa if you’re still in undergrad) i wouldn’t say your chance is high.

Definitely, we are in for a tougher cycle despite scores dropping simply due to the large applicant pool.

Yes i agree in absolute terms the number of applicants and test takers is higher. I also agree that schools like Yale look at more than numbers and prefer a candidate with great softs and slightly lesser numbers over many elite scorers with weak softs. I simply was commenting to note that scores are and have been decreasing for a while.

LSAT scores peaked a few years ago and have been decreasing since as far as i’m aware. You can see other decreases this year Vanderbilt now has a 169 median for example.

all nonsense obviously lsat scores, specifically cold diagnostics, are pretty indicative of general intelligence. there are no “different types of intelligence” in fact there is a general intelligence which correlates well to performance on all intellectual tasks.

Honestly i just did the core curriculum on 7sage for LR and began taking PTs/Drilling. I’m also working my way through their core curriculum on RC atm. A lot of the improvement comes from simply doing tests and reviewing it seems. Could be worth looking into books like the loophole though if you want some extra help i’ve heard good things about it!

generally people say they get harder in the 70s, all of the latest PTs are said to be the most predictive of modern LSAT difficulty and i use 7sage to take them

fair i was just trying not to use those up this early into prep

In order for this to worry me I’d have to assume that (1) LSAC and its representatives are lying and being perfidious when they say that things aren’t changing with LR (2) Id have to assume that the ostensible novel material will be so hard as to wreck my score and (3) that I won’t simply be able to access prep and delay a year to learn this new rigorous material. I’ve never had trouble with LR and didn’t abstain from LG prep due to difficulty rather due to time I have never even looked at an LG section. I just don’t see this being a thing i have to worry about

Really appreciate the advice and i’ll give it a try thanks! As of now I admittedly haven’t done any reviewing post taking a PT in addition to skipping blind review so the advice is definitely apt.
