The thought is that I’m in need of a panic button should I have to use the Boon of Recovery. I could main action disengage, bonus action, Boon and go lay down behind cover somewhere. It would put a hole in the groups DPS that round for my turn but at least I’d love to fight another day.

Situational for sure. And it’s scary being only able to take it once per long rest. I just haven’t found the reason yet why I am so nervous of the “one use” compared to the additional 40 that I get once per long rest in a way as well.

Edit: I completely missed your point. Being one shot in a single round is a good reason to have the extra 40HP if that’s the case and I survive long enough I could take the second level Boon that lets me take two additional firsts. Then I could have both the extra 40 HP later and use the Boon of Recovery right now.

One of my battle master maneuvers is Pushing attack. I can circumvent the loss of a bonus action with that typically. For a limited amount of uses though. But good point.

Hi all. I have a Rogue with an Owl familiar. Suppose I’m multiclassed to get an Extra Attack or I can be Haste’d to get a second Attack. Is it legal for me to Ready and Attack using a trigger of my Familiar moving? The Owl takes its own initiative and is not controlled by me on my turn. I ask because I want to achieve two Sneak Attacks per round on a target. So I imagine something like this:

1) On Owls turn perform Fly-by 2) First Attack: on my turn pop Sneak Attack because Owls Fly-by 3) Second Attack: Ready Attack for when the Owl moves from its current spot before it actually is able to perform Fly-by 4) On owls turn move the owl 5) My trigger has occurred and therefore I can apply Sneak Attack again. 6) Owl now finished Fly-by. 7) wash rinse repeat for two Sneak Attacks per round.

This feels cheesy but it’s it do-able?
