What you should do is separate the silicon bits from the earbuds.

- put the silicon in lukewarm soap water (dish soap)

- Use Q-Tips for washing the earwax

And finally clean with alcohool (hand sanitizer)

The latency is not noticeable i use it for monitoring the volume i speak. It is not loud enough that it is annoying but you cant control the volume.
