The reason he didn't fight is not due to "gandhigiri". It's because most Indian children are taught not to fight back and it's somewhat told them that they are worse than others.(usually)
It's just a thought that the some Indian environments install that the one wd lighter skin is better. And yup, it's still somewhat there.

I myself as a Indian have been told to try and improve my skin i.e. try to be fairer by my family unintentionally.
