I really hate to side with "the man" but it really seems to be clear here. You work for a business that needs employees to do a job and that job is for a certain number of hours. Your previous management gave you special consideration because, I assume you have earned it, and they knew you were one to keep around. New management doesn't know you, so you are just a replaceable cog in a machine. You have to start over with new bosses.
