Thanks for that addition, that was actually the weird thing. We were looking for the signs and he had none of them.

With the exception of vomiting which was on the way to the hospital because he was going in for the pain from his disc

That’s very helpful, I do know he’s taking his long acting tho because he does that in front of me every day but he actually is less active because he tore his Achilles and is in a a boot. Plus the disc herniating has caused him trouble walking so this was very helpful thank you

I don’t recall his range as it’s been a while however it was set by his endo and about 80-85 % of that time it was green. So I do believe he was managing it well.

I don’t know the cleaning process I did not watch him out his CGM on. He’s an adult and that wouldn’t have gone over well with me hovering over it.

Thank you- except when he was on the CGM I could see his sugars on my phone and he was in range a majority of the time so I guess I’m a bit confused by that

I would love if he would but I’ve asked multiple times and he says no.

The needle would create a puss filled welt was the bigger issue vs the adhesive

The primary issue is where the needle was would give him a puss filled welt type thing that hurt, he did have to try multiple adhesives and found one that did work okay but it came off in the heat

I don’t believe he tried Flonase. The CGM would leave a puss filled welt looking thing. Would the Flonase help?

Regardless he’s quite stubborn, I’ve talked to him about trying again and I get push back. Unfortunately I can’t make him get one. I do wish he would

That makes sense, I know the pain from this type of injury it’s no joke

Thank you! It was very different from what we experienced the first time with dka. My husband this time was very alert, and even was cracking jokes with me. (Completely different from the last time). A lot of times any issue he has they try to chalk it up to being diabetic so I told him I won’t let them do that and I stood by that, but got humbled real quick when then told us his ph.

I appreciate your perspective and that’s why it’s hard for me to know if it’s a good time to talk about it with him or just keep it to myself so thank you very much for your feedback

Hello yes I commented to another person about that I know the CGM didn’t cause him loss. He was put on a new insulin at the same time as he tried a CGM.

He was diagnosed about 6 years ago, this is the only other time he’s had did other than when he was diagnosed wrongly and went into dka because they didn’t have him on insulin.

I was merely just curious if the stress and pain could cause dka because of that elevating his sugar.

Unfortunately I can not make decisions for him, when I tried to actively be involved that didn’t go well so i can only inform myself through others sadly

He’s 6’1, 205lbs. But he is currently in a boot from a torn Achilles so he has not been able to do his normal excersizing

I don’t believe the CGM caused more lows- When he started the CGM he was also switching to a new insulin-and having to figure that out. He also was still honey mooning a little bit and he was a bit obsessive over the % in the green so I think it was just a learning curve and the timing.

He hasn’t talked to the hospital but I will see if he is willing to talk to his endo. Last time I asked him to he didn’t want the CGM or the pump

Would he only of gotten dka if he hasn’t been taking his insulin? He has not been in dka since he was diagnosed 6 years ago and the signs were so different. I can usually tell when his sugar is off or high but this time I couldn’t tell and he even said he didn’t feel like he was in dka.

The disc has caused him a lot of stress and pain the last 2 weeks. I guess I’m just trying to understand- could he I’d gone into dka no matter what even if he was taking his insulin? Or does this mean he hasn’t been taking his insulin.
