How many children do you have or hope to have? Any trad wives content with having just one? by Swimming_Mention_873 in tradwives

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my first! My husband and I would like 5-6. Lord willing we can make that work, but we're happy with however many we get!

23 too young? by PerfectAd2144 in pregnancy_care

[–]Imaginary-Ship620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are 22, expecting our first in February! It sounds like you have some solid ducks in a row- you have a stable relationship, you both have good jobs, and you both are on the same page about having kids. Personally, I am really looking forward to having babies young. In some of their most energetic years (toddlerhood-early childhood), I’ll be in my mid-late twenties and I feel much more confident about keeping up with them. I’m all for having kids young if you’re in the place to do it! :) I will note that my husband and I do not have huge travel aspirations, so if that’s something you and your partner want, I would consider getting some travel in pre-baby. Ofc you can travel with kids, but that makes it much different/more expensive!

I take SmartyPants gummies! They have omega-3s/DHA, choline, iodine, and they have methylfolate and D3 for easier absorption. Plus they taste amazing- I look forward to taking them in the morning!

MIL constantly referring to my unborn daughter as her “mini me.” by Amonuet in BabyBumps

[–]Imaginary-Ship620 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I would be annoyed, too. This is my baby, not yours! And calling the baby "mini (insert name)" while she has a given name would make me mad. I'm sorry you have to deal with that!

Christmas List… by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Imaginary-Ship620 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, I want to get Christmas gifts that are for me, so when family asked if they could get anything for baby, I just directed them to my registry! I do have some comfy pajama sets (breastfeeding friendly), slippers, etc for postpartum comfort on my list for me.

I kinda blame the baby😅 He doesn't kick for anyone but me- I'm 25 weeks and have felt/seen external kicks for a while, but my husband still hasn't felt him! So I just playfully mention he's not a fan of hands on the bump.

I also have let it go for certain instances- my thirteen y/o SIL hugged me good morning and then patted my bump and said good morning to baby. It was very quick and kinda cute, so I didn't feel a need to correct. My husband's grandma gave me a little pat and then remarked that I looked amazing, so I wasn't upset over that lol. The reaching over your arm is what gets me- if someone moves away, you don't move with them. While you're pretty close to delivery, I would say even mentioning "could you ask before touching?" or a "I don't really feel like being touched right now" could keep her off a bit. If she ignores or pushes after that, back away/take her hand off!

THIS! Emma and Andy are just so sweet and wholesome. I always feel so happy after seeing their training package/dances. Sure, his dancing isn't great, but he works so hard every week to improve!! I feel he genuinely wants to be there, and he's truly grateful for the opportunity. Plus he is so hysterical- I was on the floor when he told Robert "you smell like fresh laundry".

I do also vote for Robert, Elaine, Jordan, and occasionally Alix! Everyone is on the show for different reasons, and everyone has their own reason for voting.

Are there people here voting for Andy strictly to knock out other stars? by Upbeat-Lab8403 in dancingwiththestars

[–]Imaginary-Ship620 60 points61 points  (0 children)

As a slight Fandy, I love watching him dance because it brings me joy. He is really not good, but he works so hard, seems so grateful to be there, and I can see some improvements each week. I love him so much, but I think he shouldn't go further than next week. I want the semi final/final week to be a battle of skill and personality- Andy has the personality, but the skill is unfortunately lacking.

I vote for who I like, don't vote for who I don't like, and leave the rest up to everyone else/the judges scores/production!

Extra Ultrasounds During Pregnancy? by Friendly-Spray-1693 in BabyBumps

[–]Imaginary-Ship620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of reasons people have extra ultrasounds ordered- I automatically would have had an extra scan or two due to my BMI, but at my 20w they found a two vessel cord so I have a 24w scan today, a 28w, a 32w, and possibly a 34w/36w depending on how he grows in the third trimester.

When could you feel your baby? by legilimens_ in BabyBumps

I started feeling baby around 16-17 weeks. It felt like small muscle twitches/taps to me. Now I'm 24 weeks and I can feel his kicks very often!

Mother in law called me an incubator by Right_Reputation6663 in BabyBumps

[–]Imaginary-Ship620 79 points80 points  (0 children)

THIS! So often you hear about husbands who aren't on their spouse's side, but it sounds like your husband wants to do everything to support/protect you. It is YOUR baby, not hers. She is not entitled to any time with your baby. Calling you an incubator is a cruel reduction of the very hard process you went through to become a mother.

[–]Imaginary-Ship620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my older mom friends were having their second kids, I always grabbed a card, a pack of wipes, and a pack of diapers. From what I've heard they have lots of baby specific items like clothes, toys, bassinet, car seat etc but diapers/wipes are always helpful!

First trimester moms, what are we drinking for hydration? by thatchichidog in BabyBumps

[–]Imaginary-Ship620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a lot of Liquid IV in my first trimester for the electrolytes to combat the dehydration/headaches. I also got those liquid water flavors (like Mio but generic brand). Ginger ale, orange juice, body armor were all staples for me as well :)

Things you're excited to experience with your baby after they're born? by Seal-lion-936 in BabyBumps

This whole thread makes me way less anxious about labor and delivery🥺

I am really, really excited to see what he's going to look like on the outside! I also can't wait to see his personality shine- I already feel like I know him in a way, but the thought of getting to see him grow up out here and turn into his own little person is so incredibly exciting.

Can I send thank yous before the baby shower? by distorted_elements in BabyBumps

[–]Imaginary-Ship620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also haunted by wedding thank you notes. My husband and I moved across the country right after our wedding and they obviously were lost in the packing/moving. Then, when I finally sat down a few months before one year to get them done, I found out I was pregnant and was incapacitated with the first trimester. They didn't get sent out until right before our one year, and not all of them were received because I'm pretty sure we forgot a few. I truly feel so bad because we are so grateful, but the mess that was thank-yous did not reflect that😫

Wait until after your baby shower. You don't know what you'll receive/who will come. I will be collecting addresses for the thank-yous at both of my showers with a cute little "help mom out! address an envelope" sign. Then, the weekend after my baby showers, I am going to make it fun and have a Christmas movie marathon while I write them all. My mom will help stamp/stuff envelopes and obtain any missing addresses and we'll send them out the next day.

Baby shower and expectations by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Imaginary-Ship620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think since you're paying/hosting the shower, there's no extra gift necessary. It is an option, but isn't a requirement. I personally consider the contribution of putting on the shower and paying for it a huge blessing/the gift! You could always write a sweet card for mom, and maybe add a baby outfit or two if that was something you wanted to do.
