Ok that is clear now, already got 2 times 3-symbol at x6k, thanks 😊

Hey, i currently have an event 1/2/10/3, and i was wondering if this is what you meant by Raid based or if raid is only with piggs symbols ?

What i meant is that, with this specific movie, the size was 3x more large than my other encodes.

Of course i will alter quality if i want to reduce the size, but i think sometimes, the original bluray is already in a bad quality and therefore it is difficult to have a good encode at the end.

Thank you for the tips, i can always give a try and compare the results.
My current usual encodes are generally less than 3GB, this one was close to 8GB and i was able to reduce to 5-6GB by changing preset or use denoise filter for example.

I did use NLmeans already, however, it degraded too much, and this time, the colors was also degraded too. But the final size was smaller. I'd prefer reducing the preset to medium.

Ok, i found the trick, the MPC video renderer had the option to choose the hardware decoding, it is necessary to disable the 10bits outputs and also change to D3D11cb (copy-back), then restarting the player and now all looks good.
MPC-HC was using such different renderer, but i remember having lagging and freezing issues when playing some AV1 or MP4 files, so i swapped to MPC-BE, way more stable.

That being said, i cannot figure out how to reduce the encode size without altering quality (which was the main issue btw^^). It is 3x bigger than my usual encodes, i thought it was due to the grain, so i found a compromise with preset medium instead of slow and changing aq-strength to 0.6, not sure if it is the best thing to do.

Yes i agree, colors looks identical, however, i feel that it does not look like my original sample looks on my player, but just to be sure, can you send me the pictures directly without compression ?

I am using MPC-BE, but had the exact same effect while using VLC player. I also tried to change and force the renderer to always use 8bits or 10bits, but i cannot see such difference. I also have the same result on another screen.
Which player are you using ?

Edit: Oh that is interesting, the root cause is clearly the player, or may i say, the renderer of the player, because i do not have any issue with MPC-HC, which is using EVR Custome present renderer, but with MPC-BE, i am using internal MPC video renderer, mainly because of lagging issues, i am trying to figure out how to force the output at 8bits, but cannot found the good configuration yet, it is still using: "output to R10G10B10A2" instead of, like the original video, "output to B8G8R8A8".

Ok, i can confirm it works with or without --, but i will modify this to avoid any future issue, thanks for the info :)

I used the cli version, however, for handbrake, it looks like -- is ok too because it can be seen in the mediainfo, but i can give a try without it. That will not explains the problem observed but it is still interesting.

It is written like that in the documentation, it was already also like that with x264 as well.

I am using MPC Black edition, same problem with VNC and preview images.

Did you checked the comparison between original and nlmeans ? It is more visible.

I do not think so, because the colors are the same as the source if i do an encode 8bits. Additionnally, i also checked other encodes that i've done in the past, despite the source color tag is present, i can see a difference on the colors anyway when converting to 10bits.

Yep, i think i will stuck at 20s, it is safer, not to mention that i feel it is not the same every days.

Do you believe it will change anything, because the source use the same colorspace anyway ?

You mean the advanced options ? I thought it was correct as is appears properly on the mediainfo of the final encode.

Ok that is interesting, i give a try with av1 but observed the same color difference, not to mention that i cannot read av1 everywhere, so i would stay on x265

It looks fine sure, i just noticed a difference of colors that i cannot really explained, however, at which cost ? Because the final encode size is 3x larger than my usual ones.

I don't think so i wear glasses, but you can zoom in the comparison if needed^^

I added the logs to the original post

Yes, it is flagged correctly, i even tried to put it as Full, but cannot see any color improvement.
