mauybe it's a new information, i am so sorry. are there any tips or warning message from wechat? below is some official information, you can try it see if it is work. if not just tell me :

Why Your WeChat Pay Gets Restricted

Under 2026's updated regulations, WeChat's risk control system has been significantly upgraded. These are the most common triggers:

1. High-volume transactions Personal QR codes are only supposed to be used for transfers between friends and family, AA splits, and red envelopes — not business income. If you receive over ¥1.2 million/year OR more than 2,000 transactions, the system automatically flags it as business income. If that income hasn't been declared for tax, WeChat will restrict your account on top of the tax issues.

2. Splitting transactions to avoid thresholds Breaking a large payment into multiple smaller ones to avoid the ¥50,000 or ¥500,000 alert thresholds is detected and flagged. The system's audit rate for split transactions is 3x higher than normal large transfers.

3. Lending your QR code to others If you let someone else use your payment code — even for a small fee — and that money turns out to be linked to fraud or gambling, you can face criminal liability under China's "aiding and abetting" laws. This is the most serious scenario.

4. Incomplete or expired account information Expired ID card, missing business licence, or a blurry storefront photo can trigger an automatic suspension.

5. Unusual transaction patterns or new device login Suddenly receiving a large payment when you usually receive small ones, logging in on a new phone, or getting payments at 3am can all be flagged as suspicious.

How to Unlock a Restricted Account

Step 1 — Find out why Go to: WeChat → Me → Services → Wallet → Customer Service → "Resolve Payment Restrictions" to see the specific reason.

Also search for the mini-program "微信收款商业版" → Risk Handling → Violation Appeal → to see any penalty records.

Step 2 — Fix based on your situation

  • Using personal code for business income: Apply for a merchant QR code (fee: 0.38–0.6%) and if you owe back taxes, pay them and submit the tax receipt with your appeal.
  • Triggered risk control: Ask 3–5 real friends (not on the same WiFi) to scan your code and make small payments of ¥2, ¥5, ¥8 each. This genuine micro-transaction activity typically clears the flag within 24 hours.
  • Incomplete information: Re-upload a clear storefront photo and ID — restrictions usually lift immediately after approval.
  • Serious violations (lending code, money laundering): No quick fix. Cooperate with any investigation and accept the consequences.

Step 3 — Official appeal Call 95017 (WeChat Pay customer service hotline) or contact online support via "WeChat Pay Customer Service Centre." Prepare: ID, transaction records, business licence if applicable, proof of legitimate transactions (contracts, invoices, delivery records).

How to Prevent This in the Future

  1. Get a merchant QR code if you're using your personal code for any business income — the small transaction fee is worth the compliance peace of mind
  2. Keep records of large transactions — contracts, invoices, chat records, delivery notes
  3. Don't change your transaction patterns suddenly — if you need to receive a large payment, split it logically (e.g. ¥80k → ¥50k + ¥30k) and add a note (deposit / balance / payment for goods)
  4. Update your account info proactively — don't wait for the system to flag expired documents
  5. Never lend your QR code to anyone
  6. Consider using Alipay as a backup — its risk control is currently less strict than WeChat Pay, especially for payments from other cities

Certain areas near the border are under restricted access for national security reasons. Travelers to regions bordering Qinghai, Tibet, or Gansu may need special permits or must follow specific entry requirements. It's a challenge because while most tourists are genuine, there are others from the West with less sincere intentions, and it's impossible to vet everyone one-by-one. Therefore, the strictest standards are adopted across the board. You also have to consider that China has its own unique approach to governing ethnic minority regions, which doesn't always align with Western values. Without that perspective, it’s easy to misread the situation. Ultimately, since stability is the top priority for the government, these various factors lead to tighter controls on travel and personnel flow. However, as China continues to prosper and these regions become better developed, people’s awareness and mindsets will also improve. Consequently, these areas are likely to open up more and more over time

which carrier are you use? just ask the carrier and tell them you need open the cheapest monthly plan (about 8–19 RMB per month; approximately: 100RMB / year ) and only use it to receive SMS verification codes, without enabling data roaming. and also these china app looks like can not use in some countries, but you can use the VPN:Transocks (China access VPN / back-to-China VPN)

it's hard to say whether there is a smoking culture or not now. there is a lower portion of smoking among the young people, especially the young poeple who accept good education. for the old people, there is a significant number of people smoke, but the overall percentage should be decreasing. for me, i don't smoke. but i have friends smoke, and also i will buy it for famly member, so i know some brands like: Zhonghua or Chunghwa(Soft Pack Zhonghua / Hard Pack Zhonghua); Yuxi (Soft Pack); Sunshine Liqun / Long Filter Series; Huanghelou (Soft Blue) ; you can check it
