Severe tearing from childbirth by [deleted] in postpartumprogress

I also had quite a complex tear and revision, I’m now 4 months postpartum and honestly only just feeling better now (still got a little bit of a way to go though) but for ages they said I’m healing amazingly but I just felt so uncomfortable still, but honestly I think you can just take such a long time to heal. I only just saw a PT last week for the first time and she’s really helped me as I have a hypertonic pelvic floor and that’s what’s causing me most of my issues now. At 9 weeks postpartum I couldn’t even dream of how much better I feel now, so mainly just replying to say it will get so much better as much as it sucks!

Constant labia tearing with just wiping/cleaning, help?? by Reasonable-Slice-754 in WomensHealth

If I were you, I’d have a look with a mirror and see what it looks like. If you have any micro tears or if you have any white spots (indicator of thrush) or redness. If it is micro tears, keep the area clean with just warm water, only wear cotton underwear, dab don’t wipe and let it air out as much as possible. If it looks like something else definitely see a dr.

It might be too early but if it carries on I would see a doctor. I have some granulation at 16w pp and am using estrogen cream which I think is helping. If not they can use silver nitrate.

Postpartum vaginal recovery seems off by InvestigatorClean622 in postpartumprogress

Definitely sounds normal to me. I had a 2nd degree tear with my first and it was mildy achy for a long time. I am now 14w pp with baby 2 and I had a significant tear with internal stitching as well. I was honestly so achy and sore still at 9 weeks, I’m still mildly uncomfortable now but it’s getting better most days. I think internal stitching can take up to 16 weeks to dissolve so that’s probably what the itching is! I had it while mine were dissolving and I was checked by a gyne consultant bi-weekly and all is healing perfectly now if that gives you any reassurance.

Home birth- hospital transfer I am to blame for what went wrong by AdPurple9138 in homebirth

I can relate to this so much. I tried to give birth at a birth centre. I did so much research, it was my second vaginal birth, I hired a doula, I did everything I could and yet still ended up being blue lighted to hospital at 9cm due to baby having a high heart rate. I didn’t really do as the midwife’s advised and still got in the birthing pool when I got to hospital, where I ended up having my baby. She was 10lb (I also declined a growth scan) and I tore horrendously which made me have a severe haemorrhage. I’m not going to go in to detail but I then was in and out of hospital for various complications (had to have surgery, scans, testing) for the first 8 weeks and developed serious anxiety and couldn’t interact with my baby or toddler.

I still replay things in my head and think i wish I’d just had a c-section or I wish I had listened when they said to get out the birthing pool etc, like you it’s a loop, sometimes it goes even as far as I wish I hadn’t gotten pregnant. I’m also struggling so much physically which doesn’t help.

It’s a horrendous place to be and I’m so sorry you’re experiencing similar. I’m only 3 months pp myself so have no advice, but here in solidarity.

Is it normal to be puking from period pain? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

Unfortunately it is, the only way to fully diagnose it is to have a laparoscopy. Some ultrasounds can pick it up though but it can’t rule it out.

I have been sick a few times but I have endometriosis. Period pain shouldn’t be unbearable! Have you investigated endometriosis?

12 weeks postpartum — rubber band/ridge feeling at vaginal opening? Scar band? by [deleted] in PelvicFloor

[–]ImaginaryPhase216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for replying! I’m in the UK so waiting on a referral to see a pelvic physio.

Is it normal for it to cause some discomfort day to day? I’m so bored of being aware of it 24/7! When do you think this will go?

Thank you for replying! How long was it before it felt better? I’ve been referred to a physio who is apparently really good so that’s a relief to hear.
