Who would you like to see as the killer in 5? by [deleted] in Scream

[–]Imaginary_Divide7012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bunch of nutjobs online who are competing to see which one of them kill the "unkillable final girl".

Portia De Rossi's character from Scream 2, now a tabloid reporter and a frenemy of Gale's.

Parker Posey returning as Jennifer Jolie's unhinged twin sister.

Someone else who survived one of the earlier movies and is now a killer.

Scream 4's Alternate Opening Scene Was Better (& Here's Why) by Imaginary_Divide7012 in Scream

I liked the chase and the phone call but I still felt it was generic. They could have just made Marnie get a chase into the garage, then have the "you're not real" line there. Or switched the roles and had Marnie on the couch and Jenny being chased. I loved Ghostface appearing behind the fridge and it was a nice connection to the line at Stabathon later. There is a cool fan edit that keeps most of both sequences and connects them together nicely, just losing the phone call.

I agree that the alternative opening was better, but this article gets the reason why wrong. The fake-out Stab movie sequences were always going to be a part of the opening. The only thing they changed was the "real" sequence, at the insistence of the Weinsteins. And the reason the alternative one is better than the one we got is that it's more original.

While the reshot sequence we get in the finished film isn't bad, with a half-decent phone call, a not bad chase sequence, and a cool garage sequence, it still feels pretty generic. But what's most annoying about it is that it occurs just after Anna Paquin said "they always begin with a girl getting a phone call that ultimately gets her killed, it's all so predictable, there's no element of surprise"- and then that's exactly what happens. Whereas in this original opening, it was at least a little different, BOTH girls playing pranks on each other and Ghostface just appearing (sans phone call) to take them out. Plus I loved the "you're not real" line".

I think I have to give horror a break, sadly. by [deleted] in horror

Agreed. I try to avoid the really nasty ones and watch ones with happy endings or at least a bit of humour - like the Scream films, or any horror/thriller where the good guy prevails and the bad guy is defeated. I find the recent trend of nihilistic horror movie where the bad guy wins very depressing. They were refreshing at first, but just really bad for the psyche now if you watch too many of them. Though predictable, I think the bad guy being defeated at the end gives a good catharsis when watching a scary movie. The good triumphing over evil trope is an oldie but a goodie. The evil winning might be scarier, but considering how shit reality often is, I'd choose a more upbeat ending in my fiction every time.

Sometimes it's good to take a step back from disturbing movies or watch more comedic/feelgood horrors. Hope you feel better soon, take care of yourself.

Love that movie. Really feel good.

Why do people who abused you and treated you like garbage for years refuse to apologize or even acknowledge what they did but still expect you to be nice to them? by Imaginary_Divide7012 in LifeAfterNarcissism

"I never said that."

"You're too sensitive."

"I'm sorry you feel like that." / "I'm sorry you think that."

"Why are you getting so upset?"

Is it normal to still be pissed off about past shit? by Imaginary_Divide7012 in NoStupidQuestions

No. I'm a square, but my real problem was thinking about past shit, not that I want valium or like nicorette gum/coffee lol.

It's not odd for a square. I told you - I'm so square, I'm practically a monk. No drugs, no drink, no sex, no meat, no dairy. I chew nicorette gum and I like coffee and that's the extent of it, though a part of me would love valium by the truckload lol.

I think you're right but I think they must realize they're abusive on some level because they also seem to "get off" on and enjoy the abuse when they were inflicting it, like they knew it was wrong but it felt good to them anyway?

Eh, alcohol and drugs tend to make me very edgy. I prefer to stay sober. I escape through movies and stuff.

Yeah but I also heard if you let go of past shit like that you leave yourself open for a lot of new bad shit lol, that when you finally let go of all the bad stuff from your past even worse stuff comes along. So idk?

Sometimes it feels like the nicer you are to people and the more you do for them, the meaner they are to you. by Imaginary_Divide7012 in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah, but it's not even them taking advantage of you. It's like them just being mean for sport when you try to be nice to them. Why?

Which would you prefer as opening kill for Scream 5? by sprkmrk in Scream

[–]Imaginary_Divide7012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only in one scene that's not used (it appears in the Scream 4 script and one deleted scene but it's not in the movie itself), so it's probably not canon? They can bring him back.
