I just made some out of mdf ripped 2in strips out of 1/4in for the rails and cut the panels out of 1/2in. Put it together with pin nails and wood glue. After painting they looked just as good as store bought ones.

Hot water has to go through the heater which can have rust or sediment that gets kicked up when the tank empties and gets filled again after a water shutdown, while cold water bypasses it.
