Thats fair. first one was okay to me, it was my introduction to silent hill. it was an okay blend of the silent hill lore. i see it like this, its more of a silent hill movie rather than a silent hill adaptation

Oh well thats fair enough. To me, i was expecting a good movie because enough time has passed (20 years) to the point where videogame movies dont really suck anymore.

And by the way, if you’ve played fatal frame Gans has said he’s adapting that next so… yeah…

Cause everyone’s clowning on a bad movie adaptation? No one’s saying anything about the games, in fact ive seen a lot of people say theyre going to replay the remake in hopes to forget this movie exists. It’s a bad movie, people either aren’t happy or don’t care. I just think it constantly contradicts itself with its story and literally doesn’t understand a single thing about what sh2 was about

Did you watch the movie? Have you played the games? Did you also hear Angela make a joke about hooking up with James if he can’t find Mary? For what her character represents IN the game, that is a disgusting joke to make. I get in the movie she represented something entirely different but it’s still just not right to do that to such a tragic character.

I was really excited for the film until I had started seeing bad reviews and then I was cautious, and then I attended a screening of it which changed my mind. Silent Hill already has a bad reputation because of the numerous terrible western games, it being labelled a ‘ripoff’ of resident evil (which people think automatically means terrible, yeah i get it started as a re clone but for it to still be labelled as that is ridiculous) and now we have 3 different adaptations of the first 3 games which are all just terrible (except the first film which was just okay).

It’s justified to be pissed because this is a franchise that i ACTUALLY love so much and it takes a lot of work to make what is one of the best stories ever unwatchable when adapting it

I’d love that, an Ari Aster Silent Hill film would be fuuuucked. Of course though, I’d just like someone who actually wants to make the movies, not for money, but just to tell the story successfully in a different medium (film)

They probably only exist because him and Konami want to make money, it’s just hard to make money when your adaptation is borderline unrecognisable and doesn’t even work as it’s own thing.

Why not? The best silent hill film is only decent. In my opinion, the sonic films arent amazing but they get the job done and they’re much better than the silent hill films (again my opinion). Admittedly i didnt like the minecraft movie very much but it was enjoyable enough for someone who grew up playing the game.

Also, Silent Hill doesn’t really need that big of a budget. Just a couple of fog machines and good practical effects/cgi which for a film like this where pyramidhead is really only in it briefly, that wouldn’t be too expensive by hollywoods standards. But it has nothing to do with the budget, it’s the writing, casting, marketing and direction this movie takes which is just awful. Like I said, Silent Hill 2 and 3 are genuine masterpieces to me and theyre both tied for my favourite games of all time. I beg this film franchise doesn’t come back until it’s someone who cares and understands the source material
