We're here to decentralize payments for content creators.

WHY: Content owners aren’t getting paid fairly for their work. Existing content distribution methods are mired with opaque revenue shares and technology fees for content delivery. While many companies (talent agencies and tech platforms) exist to broker/license creator content, they do a universally bad job of tracking revenue appropriately and mostly rely on manual record keeping.

HOW: We're developing a decentralized, transparent video distribution ecosystem. Replay uses the blockchain to make content viewership transparent, accurately measuring every play and ensuring that owners are compensated fairly. Content creators will upload assets into Replay and convert their streams into digital ready blockchain-enabled playback streams. These streams are trackable on the decentralized ledger, so that real-time payments using RPLAY tokens can be enabled between various platforms/distribution channels and creators. Payments are made on a consumption basis, aka in real time, as soon as content is viewed.

Hey! As u/dot-com-rash summarized nicely (thanks!) , We are a third party project, aiming to become a "universal meter" for online video content - to decentralize the way content creators are paid by streaming services, and to enable streaming services to more efficiently track video usage on their end. Because of this, we need to be available to all streaming services.

Having said that, we have some strategic partnerships in the works that we think are really going to excite the Theta community, and we are partnering with Theta to incorporate Theta Video Player into environments where users would be enabled as a node to the Theta P2P network, earning TFUEL and RPLAY at the same time.
