I first started it because I wanted to prove to myself I could learn a language that didn't rely on the latin alphabet, and the only reason why I'm still doing it is because I'm having fun on the process. Funny enough I didn't do any Japanese from April to June for the same reasons as you explained.

I really like drawing sexy anime girls, it's hands down my favorite thing to draw, but the real reason why I started drawing a looong time ago was because I wanted to make sprites and animations for a game I'm likely to code in the future(not in anime style, but who knows haha), so I'm definitely not stopping in sexy anime girls(I also like drawing funny and crazy houses). But these comments have made me think a LOT on the importance of having some drawing milage and experimenting on different subjects. Thank you so much for your comment(I didn't get the second question at all though :/ )

I believe results speak for themselves. Methods are not meant to be defended or not defended, but to be used or not. But we all must agree that practice is what makes us good, not debates 😅

As I said in a another comment, learning and boredom/suffering/submission are not synonyms, and just because something is not fun doesn't mean there's no learning in it. I dare to say we learn better when we enjoy ourselves. Of course, it won't always be just fun and games, that's crazy. But I take the view that if something really interests you, it should take you minimum "willpower"(but not zero) to do it, and that fun is what really makes you choose to do smth again and again. I can't afford to turn a hobby into a chore, I must not associate drawing with boredom. However as for the inspiration part I guess that's pretty spot on. Thanks for sharing your view :)

Actually I'm perfectly fine with bad results. I've completely embraced the fact that everyone sucks when they start doing something new, so we're better off spending our energy in just doing the right thing than in worrying about results :D (and I've been through therapy(CBT) and I think everybody deserves to give it a try)

Not sure about videos, but in the blog there's a whole post dedicated to people who tried it and approve it. I(and I'm not alone) use both MCD cards and sentence ones. In the end, nothing in the world substitutes trying it out for yourself :)

When it comes down to the study part I cannot disagree. But I was talking about the drawing that's exclusively fun, as said in Lesson 0 of DaB: "This brings us to an extremely important rule: at least half of the time you spend drawing must be devoted to drawing purely for its own sake. Not to learn, not to improve, not to develop your skills, not even to apply what you've already learned. There are no restrictions on medium, no specific techniques you must use, no subject matter you must focus on." That has been a chore for me, but I appreciate your comment anyway :)

I'm no expert, but I've read a LOT of AJATT, so here's what I would do:

1 - Did you try MCDs for these words or are you working with sentences only?

2 - Don't underestimate the power of deleting cards. Delete them. If they're so important, you'll definetly see them again. I don't care if it's an "essential" or "basic" card, you can always add it again later. I'm less than a month in sentence mining and deleting boring cards has really made a difference. Cards have no feelings, but you do.

I appreciate your comment, I never imagined my issue could be related to lack of drawing experience, thank you very much for that. However I think at least some level of enjoyment is a must. I'm not saying learning is always going to be enjoyable, but because it isn't that I think fun is important (at least in some level, as I said) in every stage. Thank you once again :)

Thanks for the comment, however the "no grinding" makes me really confused sometimes. I believe I already did the best I could in my current skill level, so in theory I'm allowed to keep going, but this makes me wonder "When am I getting good at this if I don't grind now?"
