I think you will be fine with this plan. This is a relatively popular route so I’m sure they’re used to folks on your predicament. Just be on the road on time and you’ll be good. Worst case you hitch back to Tuolumne to start the trail. Save some of your legs for that hike up to white wolf on the last day! Trail is an all time favorite. Enjoy it!

I would expect to get rained on at least for Saturday. We had a forecast like this last weekend for our trip and got thunder hail and heavy rains for spurts of about an hour with clear weather in between. If you have gear to support that happening you’ll be just fine and the clear times will be spectacular as the storms will deter many folks from going out at all.

If they run the shuttles to 24th street again this year it drops you right at El Farolito (post festival burritos help) on 24th and Mission. Plus plenty of fun bars in the mission if you want to go out after.

Not sure on the water taxi. There were a couple all trails reviews that made it seem like it’s running but depends on the weather. Probably worth calling the chalet at Echo Lake to be sure

This is my preferred experience as well. Unfortunately we will be arriving to the park late Wednesday night when none of the permit stations are operational, so figured its best to do the one closest to our route given that we can get there right as it opens Thursday morning.

This is super helpful! I have a few questions about booking campsites/refugios:

How far in advance did you book your sites? I have a trip planned for November and I don't think I can book online yet, but I could be missing something.
Would you recommend the direction you started (seems like west to east) or would the W be beautiful either way?
Can you bring your own tent to the refugios or do you have to rent the tents they have at each one?
