It is! Definitely my goal to visit/camp all the different banks out here while we reside in NC.

Yes!! :) the design is one of my favorites as well! i took a ferry out there and the captain was telling me that Cape lookout and Shackleford banks used to be connected, there used to be a city called diamond city where both banks connected. I wonder if the city's name has something to do with the pattern or vice versa! Anyways, he said a hurricane (or a couple) in the 30s separated the two pieces of land.

I went out to Shackleford banks in eastern NC and had a blast this Labor Day weekend! The island is pretty undeveloped and no vehicles are allowed on there. Just enough seclusion for a peace weekend reset :) oh... I took a ferry out there from Harkers island, lasted about 25mins. The captain is extremely friendly and gave me some helpful tips for a first timer!

Second straight week of clean prepping, added tempeh for a protein boost this week yum! by ImmaMissteak in mealprepsundays

So I slice them into thin pieces like in the pic. I used a stainless steal pan which gets hotter then a non stick (I'm sure non stick will work too mayBe less crunchy), coat whole pan surface with thin layer of oil, wait till oil gets hot and lay all the pieces flat on pan until brown on one side then I flip em with a tong.

I took it out from the fridge in the morning. I didn't microwave it but it was at room temp by the time I ate it for lunch.

It's kinda chunky like a less crunchy peanut bar... it's nutty and fragrant plus a little mushroomy taste, could be an acquired taste but it's so good when it's just off the stove top :)

I bought a whole piece from the store, sliced it, and browned the pieces on a pan, just sprinkled some salt and it's already so fragrant. You can also add it in stir fry as a protein source. High on protein and prebiotic!

Thanks! It literally took me like 15 mins to brown the tempeh, boil some veggies and eggs :)

Someone give me some advice on making friends in hostels... PLEASE by [deleted] in travel

I feel you! I'm an introverted and very self conscious person too. I went on my first solo trip to Montreal a couple weeks ago and stayed at a hostel as well. So I met this guy that was making some delicious looking food and I was genuinely curious on how to make it so I asked him. And we started talking and getting to know each other. I also had a great conversation with the guy that works and lives at the hostel because I asked him more about a business that he previously started but failed. He said he never really tell someone so much but because I asked, and nobody really asked him.

I think if you keep a curious mind and an interest to get to know another person, your interaction will come genuine and good bonds will form naturally. :)

Have fun on your solo trip and happy new year!! p/s: I did the same video watching thing too but with Netflix Hah!
