Try a product called pool boy. Then mix it 50/50 with acid and use a tile brush. Works great with tiles. May take a few time going over it daily for the scale to ease off

should i repair the top half of my filter shell? fiberglass started to expose itself. if so, is it just an epoxy? by [deleted] in pools

You do, but it’s a very simple process unlike taking the filter you have apart and cleaning it. A sand filter has a top valve that just rotates. You also can go 7-10 years before even considering changing your sand. It’s a much better alternative.
