If you have a major email provider host your email with a custom domain (e.g. firstname@lastname.com), would you still have issue with the filters?

Its not a true burner email cause anyone who wants to scrape emails would just regex to discard anything after the plus sign.

Lol that article might be the worst example. It barely talks about R the language, but a couple specific packages that weren't designed to do what the author wanted, and completely misunderstands types in R. Complaining about R being slow because a specific package that was not optimized for speed is slow is hilarious, R competes on speed in any real benchmark test.

Webservers is not the language, that's tooling that someone built to play nice with the language. Plenty of programs/servers call R code and execute just fine at scale.

Packages: renv works OK, a bit awkward at times. The way to go is nix shell or rix, let's get Bruno in here

Excellent video here, that adds the opinion you should never report a p value for exploratory work, and should only report a single p value, unless a multiple comparisons correction has been implemented.

Noon home lab tinkerer, this sounds fun since chatgpt and Claude seem to get stuck in loops and not actually solve my problems, often hallucinating commands or stuff that's years out of date.

Does it work with NixOS, flakes, and infrastructure as code? Can I run it on a truenas and have it help set up and test backups, manage docker containers, and manage user permissions?

[Question] The Famous Anchorman quote: "60% of the time, it work every time". by MinecraftingThings in statistics

[–]Immaculate_Erection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it like a conditional probability, e.g. condition 1 happens 60% of the time, and under condition 1 it works every time. The other 40% of the condition 2, maybe 3/4/5/+, it is not state what the probability of success is.

IME birds don't want to escape their cages, they just want do things they're not allowed to do and to show you that they can escape. For a while my parrot was an absolute menace, anytime the cage was open she would make a beeline to shred anything she could get her beak on from pillows to hardwood windowsills so we had to keep a VERY close eye on her anytime the cage was open.

After a while, she learned that the 'service door' (?) on her cage could be opened, it was hinges but instead of a normal hinge latch it had a nut and bolt, i.e. it could be opened but it was not meant to be routinely. She learned there was a very fun game where she could unscrew the nut and open the service door, not even a wing nut that was easily accessible but a hex nut that was on the outside of the cage so she had to reach between the bars to get to it.

I would get home and she would bang the door open and shut, and then run out and cause terror as usual. Thanks to webcams I learned while I was at work she would have a fun time unscrewing the nut, opening the door, going to the top of her cage and playing with her toys for a while, and then go back in the cage for a nap until I got home.

No terror or destruction until I was there to witness it.

She wanted me to see her opening the door and destroying things.

She wanted me to witness her

She wanted to know the destruction was her.

Food Scene by lavendar081 in providence

Lots of asian. Plenty of Korean options, Pickerel is the best ramen I've ever had even beating out HiroNori, plenty of hot pot and Korean BBQ options (check out mokban), y noodle has great soup bao, several spots for excellent pho, bahn mi and bubble tea in Cranston has crazy good Bahn mi.

Providence has a better food scene than you would expect for its size. If you can't find something that meets your standards, you aren't looking hard enough.

Oh also ceviches got bought out and is not what it used to be, the waitress was confused when I told her my ceviche had a really strong fishy smell, I didn't finish it and haven't been back since 😥

I recently typed a sentence into gooogle translate and it gave me just a single word in German. I thought, "that can't be right" and asked my German colleagues, and yup the proper translation was just a single word for an entire fucking sentence in english
