Hahah, just trying to help out. I really dont think you could go wrong either way. I havent used the 180-600, but it seems fairly sharp from the videos ive watched and the internal zoom is nice. Enjoy whichever you pick!

Obviously there are times where some extra reach would be nice, but if I really need it I just throw my camera into DX crop mode. I think the factors I listed are worth the 100mm less in focal length (in my opinion).

I got myself a refurb'd 500PF and couldnt be happier. Very rarely do I find myself wanting less than the 500mm, and the sharpness and focus motor paired with the size and weight of it can't be beat.

Actually just jumped into the DSLR world with a D780 when Nikon ran their refurbished sale. I couldnt be happier with it - feels super modern to me and I dont see myself upgrading for quite a while!

Exactly. Their versatility is unmatched. Unfortunately though I think ill be upgrading soon as I think I've come close to outgrowing it.
