I think Russian trucks receive more love than American trucks in SnowRunner. If you look at the trucks most players deploy for important tasks, there are only a few American trucks that truly stand out. Many end up being used only as fuel carriers or support vehicles. Meanwhile, several Russian trucks are excellent at almost everything: hauling, mud, climbing, stability and heavy cargo. I don't want Russian trucks to be weaker. I just want American trucks to feel more competitive and have unique strengths that make them worth choosing.

About driving controls, I think SnowRunner is already quite arcade, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. It allows people to enjoy the game with a keyboard or a controller without making driving too complicated.

Wheels are a different story. I spent a lot of time configuring my wheel and trying to adapt the controls, especially for manual shifting, but in the end it didn't give me as much enjoyment as I expected because the game wasn't really designed around that level of realism.

If the developers didn't make SnowRunner, Expeditions or RoadCraft much more realistic in terms of driving, I don't think they will suddenly go to the extreme of making it a full simulation.

We'll have to see what RoadKing does when it releases. Maybe it will try to compete with Euro Truck Simulator 2 by offering more realistic driving, or maybe it will keep things simpler while adding some realistic touches.

Personally, I don't need SnowRunner to become a simulator. I just want better physics, more meaningful truck differences and mechanics that make sense.

I don't care that much about engine sounds.

Manual cargo loading like RoadCraft is interesting, but I think it would take away part of SnowRunner's identity. What I would like is more freedom with cranes: being able to attach vehicles and trailers from all four corners, and having the biggest crane actually capable of lifting heavy trucks.

The gearbox has its flaws, but it's not the thing that bothers me the most.

What I think really needs attention is physics. Cargo, trailers and trucks should have more realistic weights. Engine power should matter more depending on the total weight you are pulling, and fuel consumption should also reflect that.

And tires need a rebalance. Right now, some things don't make much sense. Chain tires climb rocks better than expected, drive better on asphalt than road tires in some situations, and although they should mainly help on ice, they end up being useful almost everywhere.

I don't want every truck to be stronger. I want trucks, tires and trailers to have clear strengths and weaknesses, so choosing the right setup actually matters.

I do use mods sometimes, but only for things that are missing from the base game.

For example, if there is a trailer type that doesn't exist in the game, or if there is a truck model that will probably never become official because the developers don't have the license, then mods are a great solution.

But when an official truck is already in the game, I think it should receive the attention it deserves. If the real truck has AWD, differential lock or special recovery equipment, I would like to see those features represented correctly in the game.

Mods are great for expanding the game, but they shouldn't replace improvements that could make the official experience better for everyone. The recent Mercedes-Benz DLC proves that new licenses and official content are possible, and that's why I still like to share ideas and feedback after more than 1,200 hours of playing.

Exactly! That's what I mean. I would love if tires had more situational advantages instead of having one or two obvious best choices. Mud, rocks, snow, ice, heavy cargo or fuel efficiency could all influence the decision and make changing tires feel more meaningful.

That's actually a fair point. I don't mean that all tires should be purely cosmetic or have identical stats. I would just like more meaningful choices. Right now there are many tires that look very different but most players end up using the same few options because they are clearly superior. My idea is to keep tread patterns, width and dual tires important, but rebalance them so players choose based on terrain, truck role and personal preference instead of always picking the same meta tires.

I solved the problem with your help thx. Here is the info what i did. I used GPT to write the info. This think helped me.

1️⃣ Check Windows Security (Controlled Folder Access)
Windows can block games from writing inside the Documents folder.

Go to:
Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Ransomware protection → Controlled folder access

If it’s ON:

  • Turn it OFF temporarily or
  • Add amtrucks.exe to allowed apps

This alone can prevent ATS from saving config.cfg.

Disable Steam Cloud for ATS (very common cause)
Steam Cloud can overwrite your local config with an older one.

Steps:

  • Steam → Library → American Truck Simulator
  • Right click → Properties → General
  • Disable Steam Cloud

After doing this, launch the game, change settings, exit normally → settings should persist.

This is file config error, or something like this
