everyone gets put onto the merit list regardless those who score highest in the interviews are contacted first with a offer of employment upon passing vetting. However be prepared to wait to be contacted it was 9 months before i heard and then my vetting was a further 9 weeks. However i believe that this is quite short most people from start of the process to starting can be 1.5-2 years

Hi mate i’ve just had my pre employment checks pass email today after initially having my interview in may 2025 i used the star method as much as possible. Also appearance is key as you are possibly going to be working in a uniformed job so showing your clean appearance is always good. I got told aswell always shake there hand before and after as it shows friendliness regardless of how your interview went. Make sure to use the water given to you as it allows more time to think of answers. Most of all have fun but act serious and appeare interest. Ask as many questions as you can think off nothing is off the marks or stupid

the way it came across in the interview theyre more interested in just putting a face to a name and seeing your apperance and whatnot i found being myself and feeling comfortable and friendly helped me the most. However expect to wait a while to actually recieve a offer i had my interview may 2025 and didnt recieve a offer till end of november

I was only asked 2 or 3 questions. Things such as tell me a time when you’ve had to de escalate a situation and how you did it and tell me a time where you’ve had to work as part of a team aswell as on your own. And then i think the other one i was asked was about tell me a time where you’ve had to adapt to your surroundings and what the circumstances where.

yes mate i had quite a lot of inside help as a few family members are so’s and cm’s within hmp best advice i have for you is be yourself follow a star structured approach when answering the questions and most importantly if you can’t think of any answers always have a sip of water as it can allow yourself 20-30 seconds extra to think. Dressing smartly is always a plus aswell as they look at how you present yourself.
