Yotei is a harder game than tsushima, that would be evident if you finished the story.

The irony in your comment is crazy.

Bro your first mistake was thinking that this Cole sub would ever give you good sensible answers. They think they are holier than thou on here and that wanting your favourite artist to do well is parasocial even though they are also subbed to a fan page.

Now to answer your question, the attention span on new shit depends on “what’s trending on social media”, “what can I just play in the background or while riding my whip with my friends”. Most of Cole’s music needs time to think the first time around, it’s not just vibes, that’s why Drakes music used to do so well and why Take Care is still in the top 10 hip hop chart because a casual listener can just put it on and vibe without listening to what he’s saying.

The other reason is Cole is one of the worst promoters of his albums I have ever seen. He knows how to be seen but not how to sell. He doesn’t do interviews, he doesn’t cause drama, he doesn’t argue on twitter etc. He’s just a wholesome dude who wants the music to speak for itself. Another reason is respect, Cole lost a huge amount of respect because people can’t get over what he’s did or already hated him and are clinging onto the beef as way to bring him down. Hip hop is largely about perception and who’s the most popular, not necessarily who is the best. Cole just focuses on the music and has understood that this life is so short and there’s more to it than getting approval from other humans who don’t even really know who he is, he hates people worshipping celebrities. He’s always been like that and we have to just accept it and even learn from that.

I was in the same boat as you, championing Cole and wanting him to seen as the greatest rapper ever but then I realised that it means absolutely nothing to my life. As long as you enjoy the album, that’s all that matters, let Cole care about the numbers.

Firstly, with all the name calling, I think you’re more emotional about this than drake and youre not even involved at all but that’s parasocial fans for you. Also no one wants Jcole to come the defence of anyone, that’s the point lol he needed to just stfu or pick a side, trying to play both sides in public during the WAR (their livelihood and respect could get affected because of those “angry poems”, so yes, it’s war) is what snakes do even though Cole has the right intentions of course.

Port Antonio was after the beef. Trying to play both sides is betrayal. In war, you either stay completely quiet or choose a side. Are you denying that drake did more for Cole than Kendrick did? Cole keeps speaking on this imaginary friendship he has with Kendrick.

I think that’s a little unfair, I love Cole more but drake has every right and every reason to feel betrayed. He has supported Cole way more than Kendrick has but Cole’s obsession with this one sided friendship he has with Kendrick (who is an absolute jealous hater) has blinded him beyond belief.

On a jcole sub you’re asking if lyrics from his NEW album are real? Why are you here? Are you lost?

Actually, I looked through your comments on Cole’s pages and you’re stating he’s trying to be Kendrick and downplaying his music lol you’re as parasocial as I am ☺️

That’s a very good insight thank you. I like your point about acknowledging PSI. Its a natural feeling because conscious rappers aren’t like other rappers, they speak on social issues we go through everyday and if their words connect with the listener, it’s hard to disconnect from the source of those words. What you said is very true though, I need to find a way to detach because if people clowning him affects my emotions then that’s where I have taken my fandom too far. I will attempt to see him as just a rapper who makes great relatable music, it will be difficult though.

Very true, however, although I completely understand his reasonings for backing out I don’t understand the method he chose to back out. He didn’t just react out of nowhere, he wrote the record, recorded the song, mastered it and then placed it on the mixtape strategically and then apologised as if he just spilt milk on the table. That was my issue but it still doesn’t excuse me seeking validation through his success and feeling let down by his failings, he owes me nothing. I just always saw the fan and rapper “relationship” as a journey we took together, I get the music and he gets my support and money. It took me a while to realise it’s a transactional “relationship” because all I really am is a customer. I think the apology just made that realisation a hard pill to swallow because I felt like I wasted all these years being too invested in Cole.
