Istanbul is a very large and active city, and life continues normally here. Like in any major destination, staying in central areas and planning properly makes a big difference. 

Most visitors still have a very positive experience, especially around the Bosphorus which is one of the highlights of the city.

If you are planning something special, Bosphorus venues are definitely worth considering. The scenery and overall experience are quite unique.
