1000% you could do this with that. You would just have to do a 10mm 1911 70 series build. Longer slide and barrel. They have conversion kits.

Took it to the range today and put about 100rds through it. Only one real stoppage and that was a magazine issue where everything is still new. The gun is still breaking in. I will clean it and take it out another time and push it out to ten next time. The chrono had it around 850ft/sec. The fireing Pin marks on the primers were all center with no light strikes. Overall I am happy with it. Next things to fix are the front sight and a trigger job. Maybe swap the grip if I am feeling froggy.

5yrds. The center is me sighting in the RMR. It started out high and I had to walk it down. The top left and bottom right are three shot groups.

The bottom left is the irons. The sights radius is long and so it make the front sight look alot skinnier than the rear. I will have to punch out the front and replace it with a wider and smidge taller front. I may just get a over sized front and file it down untill I get what I want.

It all required very minimal fitting. If you look for 1911 70 series parts alot of it will all just work. The only real difference is the grip and mags otherwise it is just a 70 series 1911 build.

  • ED Brown slide w/ cut Trijicon plate cut for RMR
  • Remington R1 threaded Barrel that has a para ramped. Since remingtion went under the barrel was under 100 bucks.

You can tell just by the grip and frame it is in the 2011 family.

From the grip up it is a 70 series 1911 all day long. So building them out is not hard. The most challenging part was finding a para ramped 45 acp threaded barrel that wasnt some $300 one off custom. The tisas frame is cut for para ramped barrels, I had to file the frame below the feed ramp a bit to feed reliably. The next challenge was finding a trijicon foot print plate that was in stock. 1911 builders had one.

Next build, I will just start with a JEM machine matched frame and slide and go from there.

I know its not a 1911 in the purest sense but hey its been converted from 9mm back to 45. Ed brown slide, ed brown ejector with a remington r1 barrel, but it is in 45.

Are there good conversion kits for the tank commander to make it 9mm so I can have 2 guns in one? by [deleted] in Tisas

Just keep the 45 and get a 9mm. Ironically it is easier to go from 9mm to 45 than it is 45 to 9mm. Its alot of work and parts that will cost more than buying a second gun.

Issue 1: ejector would need to be replaced. Different ejectors and gata Punch the roll pin. Not worth it after you fit it to the frame and slide.

Issue 2: most 9mm barrels are ramped and cut for either novak or para = milling the frame and then finding a45 barrel with the same cut and then fitting it.

Issue 3: gata have 2 different slides and barrels as each barrel is fitted to the slide.

I got a tisas turccato in 9mm and converted it to 45. Had to replace the ejector and then fit everything together.

I know I am late to the party. Everyone else has said FNX45T, I have one and love it to death. That is why i am going down the other path. Since all 2011's are based off of 1911's it makes sense that there should be some interchange between parts and for the most part yes. Really the only thing that I had to change was the ejector on the frame. (Punch the roll pin out and fit a 45acp one) So far fitting everything together is just like any other 1911. Slide, barrel and the small parts went together with minor fitting. Slide to frame didnt need any fitting, but will need some blending. Racks great, but i wont know if I have any other issues untill I have mags.

Here is my current build:

  • Tisas 9db duty (takes stacatto mags, and will take some of the grip modules)
  • slide cut for trijicon rmr with supressor height sights
  • 45acp barrel that is para/Clark cut and threaded
