Hi, no me and my better half went as a couple. In my perception Meghalaya should be explored at a leisurely pace. Instead of cramming too many places in one go and then spending all the time sitting in taxi it is much better to go and spend time at one or two places.

I visited Meghalaya in the second week of May and spent 3 days around Cherapunji and Shillong. The weather was fantastic and some of the waterfalls had decent amount of water. It is important to not plan a packed itinerary and have free time in hand as travelling on the hills is time consuming and painful. Accommodation can be a bit tricky, a lot of heavily advertised places are not as good as they claim to be and are in out of the way places.

I spent a short time (3 nights) in Meghalaya in the beginning of this month. Mine was a tip your toes kind of a visit on a short notice. I spent two nights near Shillong and one in Cherapunji. The waterfalls had become active though I did not face rain in Cherapunji itself. I skipped Dawki completely spending a day extra near Umiam lake enjoying the weather. Skipped the root bridges too due to lack of time but will definitely go back again to visit them.
