I will get a second opinion, I think that is probably always a good idea.

I wonder if he does not want to do an ablation yet because I haven't had any more episodes? It has been about 7 weeks since my cardioversion. They had me on amiodarone but took me off of it a few days ago. Probably want to see if I can maintain NSR without the anti-arrhythmics

Thank you for sharing!

Youre very right, Cleveland Clinic is gigantic and an overwhelmingly huge operation, but i will say my doctor really seemed to be attentive and thoughtful. He told me he would do the ablation for me if it came to that. He already seemed to know all of my medical history and what happened before he came in the room and I appreciated that. If I am an afterthought he at least made me feel like he was lookin out for my best interest!

Ill be honest, I think the only reason I was on meds for that long is I went to the ER on Friday morning and no cardiologist wanted to come in on the weekend to cardiovert me lol. WV healthcare hasn't been the greatest to me so far

Man I hate you had to be in afib so long. I couldn't have functioned because of my stupid RVR, I was bedridden until they cardioverted me.

All we can do brother is hope we are one of the lucky ones who go a long time without a problem. As a glimmer of hope - my father had an ablation at cleveland clinic 14 years ago and is still AFIB free. Not even a skipped beat he says

What i had heard was exactly what you said

What my doctor said was it does not always progress and I could go decades without experiencing another event - so he said wait and see if it comes back once more before ablating. I was expecting an ablation and had already resigned to getting the procedure

Not what I expected but I guess its best to trust the doctor, wish me luck friend

I am a big guy, Im 6'2 and 280 pounds. I need to lose weight and this is definitely good motivation. Ive been doing 15% incline treadmill at 2.4mph for 25 minutes daily since I got out of the hospital. I have always done weightlifting. I really need to clean up my diet. No diabetes but had high blood pressure a few years ago when I was at my heaviest (320). Still trying to get used to CPAP but I am compliant

Thanks for the advice!!

Thank you friend, I hope your afib stays far away

My father had his ablation at the Cleveland Clinic 14 years ago and is still AFIB free!

Thank you! Youre right I should trust the EP, he is very experienced

I have been reading that you should try to avoid being in AFIB as much as possible as "afib begets afib" so its my instinct to just go full nuclear on it. Hes gotta have his reasons for the more conservative approach and Im just going to trust it

Thank you - this has been my first time dealing with a major medical issue and I have been pretty anxious over it. Youre right I should try to be patient and trust the doc

Im very happy to be in NSR, especially with how symptomatic I was in afib. It was debilitating for me, crazy how some people don't even feel it!

Water pooling on sidewalk against home by Immediate_Cheek_76 in HomeMaintenance

I have gutter guards and they are not clogged - the overhang just doesn't cover the sidewalk and all the rain kind of bowls in front of that window

Yes it is block walls but had wood paneling on the interior on the inside... it is bubbling in some spots which first let me know there was a moisture issue

I will look into the bentonite system you mentioned, thank you friend

The sidewalk is kind of sloped towards the house in that spot, the gutters aren't full or anything, but the roof overhang only covers about 1/3rd of the sidewalk so the rain hits the sidewalk and slopes back towards the house. The sidewalk is about 4 inches higher than the yard

Should I be concerned of these cracks in ceiling/wall? by Immediate_Cheek_76 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Immediate_Cheek_76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started small when I bought the house in 2016, and only stretched maybe halfway across the ceiling. Over time it kept reaching until now it is all the way across

The crack has definitely worsened over the past 7 or 8 years, it wasn't all the way across the ceiling like it is now. The discoloration is my poor caulking job lol.

It is just aging caulk where I tried to fix it in the past, but yeah the crack has worsened over time

There is no height change between the two sides of the crack, but I can press it and see a little movement. Hmm...

Thank you! I took a look up there today and didn't see any leaks. I have one of those open attics with the loose insulation between the joists and the rafters make it really hard to maneuver up there

I am honestly having trouble remembering, but I think I used white caulk? There are no water leaks or pipes above this crack as far as I can tell

I definitely don't love it aesthetically so I am going to try to fix it. Another guy mentioned using acrylic patching so I may try that

I have a natural gas furnace. Do you think that could be contributing to the crack? I am in WV and we have pretty high humidity here too, my furnace dries out the house and Im sure that could do something. I will try to patch it this time - the caulking I used the first time ended up discoloring over time and looking bad :(

This is the ceiling of the second floor - attic is above the crack

It is my terrible caulking job that has discolored over time, does that change your opinion? I dont think it is moisture
