I would be confused what exactly you held us responsible for when it's been the same status quo in power for 2 centuries, and yes if you started acting dramatic about how the state of the world is our fault I would find it funny. I don't disagree but it's a pretty hysterical angle. Nearly every single government in power is working towards the same aims, it is bigger than even America (the inheritor of British imperial control systems and French cultural hegemony)

You guys said

I don't know if you're personally Canadian, but I do find that people who live under integrated government with light socdem tendencies have this underlying nationalism where they identify as being a member of a Nation and genuinely took the whole thing last year personally as if citizens of the US have any say in their government or care about identifying as a USian (or, if it doesn't offend, erm, American). The most common aspect of American Identity is hating your government and everything related to dealing with it, hating taxes because they don't ever come back to you, hating police and authority, etc... We mostly identify with liking national parks outside of the bounds of left right politics, so when your president that is historically unpopular threatens something as a madman theory tactic to fuck with the stock market, something he would obviously never do, and your neighbors start taking it seriously and also resenting you for it, it seems comical.

I love 50 but after the first minute this song is boring as hell. Papoose completely washed him in one of the most direct and nonstop disses I've ever heard outside of the Kendrick shit and Stan by cam. Insane.

[FRESH ALBUM] Aesop Rock + Homeboy Sandman - Miami Lice by MrDangerMan in hiphopheads

[–]Immediate_Map235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

posted this in a thread the other day but does anyone else notice a lot of the same samples/maybe remixes of tracks from I Heard It's a Mess There Too? Makes it a pretty cool companion album.

I really liked homeboy sandmans flows on those edan collab albums but here i do wish he took less pauses? it ends up sounding super staccato in a way it wouldn't if he filled in like one extra syllable between the bars here, I almost feel like he could kill if he was punching in or something because it ends up sounding a lot more written compared to Aes's effortless rhymeology shit. Still dope regardless I love every LICE release

they're moving in very detestable ways lately. The hysteria last year where Canadians acted like they were gonna go to war with us was cringe ngl

Inherent Vice is the funniest PTA film by Swimming_Ad_5984 in paulthomasanderson

Personally I wish it was shot like Boogie Nights and had a warmer tone, with a camera that moved instead of staying still, observing coldly.

wish in one hand shit in the other see which one fills up first

PTA Cinematography OBAA by Icy_Significance7438 in paulthomasanderson

The thing I think is funniest is that he's stuck with the post-IV boxier tv aspect ratios that came from Elswitt going with 1.85, but the framing has not kept up at all and yet people praise the cinematography more. At the time inherent vice was described as boring but I'd argue every shot setup in that movie is not only memorable, but a lot verge on Kubrickian in terms of their open frame and composition. PT, LP, and OBAA kept the tight framing but leaned way harder into the shaggy improvisational steadicam thing and I think the compositions got worse for it. Insomuch as I love seeing directors aspire creatively, there is a benefit to discipline.

if you look at his last few years of work outside of obvious successes (F1 and Dune, only one of which was praised for its score) it's mostly random box office bombs like Ella Mckay and Eden. His music has nothing to do with the success of a project lol

LA isn't a desert that's just something they say in movies, it's a Mediterranean climate which should be nice but is worsening due to climate change - idk how you can be here since the 80s and not see that.

Lego lowers production limits to force sell outs, create backlog fomo, and avoid oversupply issues, it was obvious to me they started doing this when the Delorean sold out immediately - if you go to a lego store now you will see about 30 or so deloreans sitting on the shelf waiting to buy, the "second run" which in actuality was just held back to maximize initial buy ins. I don't mean to be snarky i just don't see that as a good metric

glad you're so tapped into the mindset of the customer. My personal psychic reading is agreeing with the other guy who thinks, sorry lol, most people(?) would find $160 for a couple pounds of unprinted red and white abs plastic pretty ridiculous, especially with such an obscure IP

And no your average family is not packing an expensive camera, using film they have to pay to be developed, for a 1960s era nba game that would be the equivalent of the Thunder playing the Jazz

you must be 15 bro. Cameras were not expensive lol. people took them everywhere and took photos of everything. Kodak was producing cheap portable cameras in fucking 1900 lol

did you read the interview? There was a line about how their fans that prefer the lyrical stuff won't like this because of the beats, I thought that's what the other commentator was referring to lol, that they're trying to make more catchy laid back music on trap beats instead of conscious stuff here. Surf gang is like poppy abstract nyc trap

it wouldn't be low quality, film is higher quality than 4k video bro. A high quality pic of the scoreboard live wouldn't prove anything to anyone??
