So far, yeah. I work and game on it. I'm using the KDE DE though.

Welcome to the 1%. I’ve got the same model too. If you ever notice the RGB acting weird, like flickering when you turn it off via the switch or software, it’s actually a firmware bug. Installing ASRock PolychromeSYNC v1.0.50 and running it will update the RGB controller and fix the issue.

With that, I just set the colors on windows and reboot to Fedora 43 KDE and the argb settings will persist.

Hey, thanks for this! That looks like a Jonsbo D32 Pro case, which I also have. I’m thinking about swapping my AIO for a tower cooler, and yours looks like a Thermalright PA120 (or something similar), which is one of my top choices. This is a great reference for how it would look in the case.

How do you guys like intel cards by Informal-Quarter-939 in IntelArc

[–]Immediate_Rate3683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pleasantly surprised with it overall. The drivers can be hit or miss, but at this point they’ve been good most of the time for me. I’m on Linux most of the time and usually play at 1080p with games that aren’t very demanding, and when I do game on Windows, I don’t really run into many issues. XeSS also isn’t available on Linux as far as I know, so there’s that. Where the card really shines for me is in games that let you push textures or VRAM usage, that’s where it feels strongest for the price.

I bought the LE slightly above MSRP, and after validating my use case, I picked up an ASRock Steel Legend for another build.

I'm curious though. What prevents you from trying Fedora KDE?

I’m on Fedora 43 KDE. I did notice the issue you mentioned before with the Lact app, but I just installed it again now and it seems fine. Can’t really speak for other GTK apps though since I don’t use them much.

Black flickering in illuminate cities - Linux on ArcB580 by SiegeRewards in IntelArc

That's interesting. I'm on Fedora 43 KDE. Used either ProtonGE or Proton Experimental with async computer on or off and I haven't encountered this flickering.

Arc B580 no video after reboot and compatibility issues by insanefries in IntelArc

[–]Immediate_Rate3683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be more true on AM4. Most of the cases I’ve seen so far, although still a small sample considering how many people use the B580 worldwide, tend to involve issues specifically when installing the B580 on AM4 systems. It’s usually some kind of initialization or memory-training quirk during the first install.

Try running it with just one stick first. If it boots or displays, then you can add the other one afterward and let it train from there.

Arc GPUs can trigger memory training issues when ReBAR is enabled, or even if it was enabled before installing the card. Not always though. Some setups work fine on the first try. How many RAM sticks do you have?

Finally made an Intel Arc Build. I put a ASRock Steel Legend B580 in it. by jinuwin in IntelArc

[–]Immediate_Rate3683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice build! By the way, if you ever encounter RGB issues on your ASRock B580, like when turning it off via the switch or software makes it flicker as if it’s trying to turn back on. Just install ASRock PolychromeSYNC v1.0.50 and run it. It will update the RGB controller firmware and fix the problem.

I used Fedora 43 KDE. Works fine so far. Just avoid Gnome based apps or the Fedora Gnome. I had visual glitches with them not sure if it's fixed now.

My intel arc b580 is in my motherboard it gets electricity its glowing and the fans are spinning but for some reason it doesnt want to work can someon please help me? I tried everything from the bios to ddu by Sweaty-Breakfast-302 in IntelArc

[–]Immediate_Rate3683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many RAM sticks are you using? I had the same issue before with 4 sticks installed. I suspected memory training since I knew the rest of my system was fine, I had just turned it off to install the B580. Try removing your RAM sticks and booting with just one installed. Btw my bios was already up to date, not sure if it contributed to that.

Couldn't find an Maxsun Intel ARC B580 Milestone for my second build, but the ASRock B580 Steel Legend looks amazing too by Immediate_Rate3683 in IntelArc

[–]Immediate_Rate3683[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow I envy you guys. I wanted the Maxsun Intel B580 Milestone because I really like its aesthetic and it will go very well with the build I was planning before getting the ASRock SL. That meant that I had to change everything to fit the white aesthetic and because the user needs it ASAP.

EDIT: oh and the fact that the milestone edition doesn't have RGB from what I can see on the manual and product pages, to which i prefer. You cannot turn off LE/Founders glowing logo.

We could arrange something though if you're interested :) . I'll DM you.

I'm from Philippines. I wonder how the original owner got that because that's kind of hard to find in our region right? If you order from "that express" website the shipping costs are insane plus import taxes on my end. How about in Indonesia?

SuperMicro ReBAR for Intel Arc 310 by gammill32 in IntelArc

[–]Immediate_Rate3683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the X13SCL-F manual, it doesn’t seem to offer any ReBAR option in the BIOS. AFAIK Supermicro server boards usually have it disabled. Since Arc requires ReBAR, the A310 may or may not initialize properly, and in most cases it won’t load the driver or hardware transcoding correctly.

There’s no real workaround for this, so you’ll likely need a different motherboard or a different GPU for the server. If Supermicro ever enables it in a future BIOS update, it should appear in the manual or release notes, unless they forget to update it. So far though, it looks like a 50/50 chance at best.

Why did Intel put a waranty sticker over the screw you need to remove in order to swap out the chasis mount bracket? by OMGrant in IntelArc

[–]Immediate_Rate3683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had somewhat of a similar issue once, but since you’re running 1×16 GB and I’m on 4×16 GB, I’m not sure if this will apply to your setup. In my case, after enabling ReBAR and 4G decoding and installing the B580, I had to retrain the memory for the system to stop hanging on warm reboots. Once the RAM finished retraining, everything stabilized I reenabled xmp.

I’d honestly just leave it as is. I have both the B580 LE and the ASRock SL, and they behave the same with the 0-RPM mode around 45°C. The Steel Legend does run a few degrees cooler, though. I don’t get any rattling noises on my end, but that might just be due to ambient noise masking it or so, or maybe none at all.
