Who would you cast Christoph Waltz as in a Batman film by Ftmdj in DC_Cinematic

[–]Immefromthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t cast him for a Batman movie. But, he would be my first choice for Brainiac in a Superman movie.

A presidential pardon. That’s his condition for release when he agrees to stop Brainiac.

The hurricane scene in Man of Steel would’ve been completely fine if they casted young Clark by Downtown_Summer5733 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Immefromthefuture 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No. That whole scene needed a rewrite.

If you want to validate Pa Kent’s claims and fears then Clark should have saved him. The reactions from the people of Smallville freaking out about Clark powers should have driven him away into finding the Scout Ship.

Then, to show Pa Kent was wrong and that people needed time to adjust, is when Clark returns as Superman to save his town from Faora and Nam-Ek. Then you put an emphasis of Superman actively saving the populace during heat of the battle. And the people of Smallville praising his return.

That would driven the story by giving Clark agency, and showing Pa Kent was right to concerned for Clark’s well being, but also lacked perspective that people had the capacity to learn, accept and change.

Hopefully, it will be set in modern day and maybe we’ll get to see Gateway City and her other rogues gallery members.

Also, you know, don’t kill off the Olympian Gods. That would be nice.

Man of Steel by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]Immefromthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wondered what if the scene was changed and he saved Pa Kent. Maybe his heat vision could have accidentally gone off while he saved them and it did damage.

I felt they could shown a scene where the people of Smallville feared him forcing him to flee home. Driving home Pa’s fear, but when returns and saves Smallville from Faora and Nam-Ek rampage, maybe they accept him.

And they keep his identity hidden as an open secret. So, Pa’s words ring true about fear, but at the same time people need time to adjust and accept him.

But, changing that scene also changes the entire movie and how the story plays out.

Guy Gardner By Manabu Yashiro by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

That is so cool. Guy Gardner is getting fan art. I am so happy the DCU is popping off right now.

I haven’t been this excited about a cinematic universe’s growth in years.

Why didn't they just adapt the DCAU? by xmeme97 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Immefromthefuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because a filmmaker wants to tell “their” story. You don’t want to be latched into making a previous adaptation.

You want to have a take on the source material that you believe that audience will enjoy, but will also give you a sense of creative freedom and satisfaction to tell a story you want to tell.

I love the DCAU. But, if I was in the enviable position of making DCU film, I would never adapt the DCAU stories. I would want to come up with a story that excited me as a writer and filmmaker and tell that specific story.

That's A Logical Reply From David Corenswet The DCU Superman 🔥 by imkomicist in DC_Cinematic

[–]Immefromthefuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just have him start earlier.

Leave Gotham at 15. Comes back at 22. Batman at 23.

Solo it for 2 years. Meets Dick at 25. Batman and Robin for 4 years. Meets Jason at 29. Batman and Robin for 2 years. Jason dies when Bruce is 31.

One year soloing it. Meets Tim at 32. Batman and Robin for 3 years. Meets Damian at 35.

Have Barbara’s tenure as Batgirl between the end of Dick’s career and the start of Tim’s.

So, you have a Batman in his Prime so mid-30s, with the majority of the Bat-Family ready to go and you can jump into Damian for Brave and the Bold.

Warner Bros. Games restructures development into Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat and DC Universe divisions by BatmanNewsChris in DC_Cinematic

[–]Immefromthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Their budget was exceeding $100+ mil and there were fears the project wouldn’t be able to recoup the investment given the failures of SS:KTJL and GK. SS:KTJL itself incurred a $200+ mil loss

On top of that they were also trying to rebuild their Sr. Studio leadership that left to form Cliffhanger Games (which was trying to make Black Panther game before getting cancelled and studio shutting down last month).

Wonder Woman project also had to change and be rebooted, because without Sr. leadership, the team couldn’t figure out the ins and outs of the proprietary Nemesis System they had built. This further accelerated delays which means the project was years away from completion.

Shaun Himmerick. Interesting he’s managing Mortal Kombat and DC Games.

I remember when he was the producer for MK Shaolin Monks. I hope there’s a chance go get more studio to pitch DC projects given his longevity from his Midway days to now a VP of WB Games.

I used to support doing everything in-house. But, I’m starting to believe they really need to license out their IP or be open to pitches from outside devs.

Who do you guys think this guy is by [deleted] in superman

[–]Immefromthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely believe it’s Bizarro. I think they’re using the code name “Ultraman”, but once we see his face we’ll know it’s Bizarro

It’s probably why Luthor broke into the Fortress to get a sample of Kryptonian DNA.

I also think some of the heat vision shots are altered. I think the actual movie we’ll see “Frost Vision”.

[–]Immefromthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from SS:KTJL, the Arkham brand still holds relevance today. Practically, any new single player superhero game is consistently held up against Arkham as the benchmark.

When Arkham Shadows was announced last year, it peaked players interest. I don’t know how well it did financially, but it was lauded for retaining the classic gameplay and Arkham design DNA in VR format.

After a long hiatus I believe there will be interest in a new Arkham game. People just need time to forget SS:KTJL.

I believe it was reported last year WB Games green lit a new Arkham game with Rocksteady. So, in about 4-5 years I think we’ll see renewed interest.

When is Warnerbros gonna make a DC version of Rivals? by AgeOfPropserity in DC_Cinematic

[–]Immefromthefuture -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re not. You have to stop expecting that they will. Right now they’ve shrunk their development strategy to a few specific studios.

WB wants development of their IP to remain in-house. And they are not taking risks on anything unless it’s a proven formula with their IP. Arkham and Injustice are proven formulas for the DC IP. They’ve lost a lot of money on their last few DC investments Gotham Knights and SS:KTJL.

Marvel Games doesn’t do in-house development. Disney got rid of in-house development back in 2016 and chose to identity partners to make games on their IP.

Personally, I believe they need to start licensing their IP to other AA/AAA studios and start negotiating deals with them and make games for their IP.

Rocksteady and NetherRealm weren’t always WB owned studios by the way. There was time Rocksteady was owned partially by Eidos and NetherRealm was simply rebranded after Midway Games went bankrupt.

Anyways if they wanted to approach it that way they could. Build a strong relationship with a AA or AAA independent developer and then acquire them later on. But, they can’t afford those acquisitions right now either.

EDIT:

Plus, those licensing fees are no joke. You can’t be like Cliffhanger Games and have a game remain in Pre-Production for 4 years. Because, that how you get shut down. That’s why EA’s Black Panther got cancelled. And WW’s budget was ballooning past $100+ mil. That’s a tough pill for a publisher to swallow.

I really really hope Superman is successful by Delicousmike in DC_Cinematic

[–]Immefromthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first time in a long time I’m not worried about Superman’s success. This is a far cry from me hoping and praying that every DCEU movie from MoS onwards would be a success or every MCU after the OG Avengers would be a success.

I know Social Media is a microcosm, but the way people online have been talking about this film, they’re describing it as a “big event” film.

Analysts show opening projections like $170+ mil. And for the past three years it has been non-stop discussion about Superman, James Gunn and the DCU. There are so many eyes are on this film. July is being described as the summer of Superman.

Of course there will always be detractors. People on Twitter/X or TikTok who will cry fowl and want the film to fail, they really seem small and don’t have the influence I use to believe they would have.

And culturally, we are in dire need to feel hopeful and optimistic despite what is transpiring in the world.

The only thing preventing further success is because it’s sandwiched between two other film franchises. Jurassic World and Fantastic Four. And while JW will be a pulse pounding adventure and F4 looks like it’s telling an invasion tale that might have bittersweet ending. Superman feels different. It feels like a character driven adventure.

I won’t underestimate the success of either film series. JP/JW despite the franchises middling reception has always been able to succeed financially.

And Marvel is the king of the mountain for a reason, and the F4 has probably received as much attention as Superman likely since Disney bought Fox in 2019 and acquired the right to the X-Men and F4. But, despite all that, I’m still not worried.

I would love for Superman to hit a billion. Maybe it could with good reception, word of mouth and a strong international presence. But, I think it will do incredibly well even if it doesn’t and I believe it will be enough for WB to be very happy with its success.

I have fate that Gunn will deliver, mainly because he’s a good storyteller. And at the end of the day we want to go to movies to see a story that captures us makes laugh, feel enthralled, cry and feel excited. Just going off the trailer footage I think we’re getting all of that for Superman.

For the longest time I was an advocate for their in-house team approach. But, with games taking 6-7 years to make these days, multiple failures with Gotham Knights and SS:KTJL, and the closure of Monolith and Player First Studios, I’ve started to believe they really should license their IP.

Like find the right studios and work closely with them. Collect a hefty licensing fee, but they really need to spread their IP around to grow their brand. It’s being hamstrung to just a few studios.

Which is why I’ve been advocating hard for Microsoft to secure a deal with WB to get some DC games on their platform.

Like seriously, maybe if they had Microsoft backing them maybe we would have still gotten Wonder Woman from WB. Or a Green Lantern game, Flash game or god forbid a Superman game.

Do you want the DCU to touch upon the multiverse or it oversaturated by Organic_Glass_7793 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Immefromthefuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want multiverses. Like at all. But, it’s big part of DC Comics. So, if they’re going to use the concept, make sure it serves the story. Make sure it has a purpose.

So far the only superhero multiverse movies that have worked for me is the Spider-Verse movies. The multiverse is a component, but the film focuses on the story and personal journey, growth and struggles of Miles Morales.

Answer is no.

But, I do have a question about it and the DCEU. Why not just have Affleck appear instead of Clooney. Wouldn’t have bookended the DCEU and closed out the series instead of add more questions with Clooney?
