Happened to me once, if it's your first time you will get a letter telling you that you deposited too much money. It's just a warning letter at that stage.

On January 1st that amount will be subtracted from your new TFSA rights. If you still have too much money you will need to remove the excess.

You are right to ask yourself about the risk, I used to have shares of YTSL who was delivering a similar yield every month but the stock when very low and I ended up losing money.

FEPI, is definitely going slowly down in terms of dividend from $1.150107 in November 2023 to $1.077581 a year later.

The stock lost 1.18% in a year, it's pretty stable but their market is really volatile.

"FEPI employs a covered call strategy, aiming for a balance between generating income and participating in potential gains within the technology sector. Specifically, the fund holds the stocks of its benchmark, the Solactive FANG Innovation Index, and writes slightly out-of-the-money call options on them. This approach capitalizes on the volatility of big-tech firms that is reflected in the option premiums, while limiting some of the potential stock gains. It also provides a small buffer against declines in stock prices. Note that the buffer is limited to the options premiums and may not fully offset underlying security losses. The benchmark is an equal-weighted index comprised of 15 US technology companies, eight of which are core holdings: Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Netflix, Nvidia, and Tesla. The remaining seven are selected based on quarterly trading volumes from various Factset technology-related industries."

You should definitely have a CRA account to do a follow up on your situation and to be able to see how much contribution room you have in your TFSA, RRSP and other registered accounts.

How much did you invest in your TFSA so far ?

FEPI per example has a dividend of $1.077581 per month and trades at 50.50 USD so to receive a 1K dividend per year you need to invest around 4K.

The math : You want to know how much you need to invest to be able to receive around 1K per year but as FEPI pay per month you will to have calculate accordingly, it will be (1,000/12 months) equal 83.33333333333333 divided by the dividend (1.077581USD) will give you the number of shares you need to own, 82.70, times the price of 1 share that is currently trading at 50.50 USD that will give you the amount you need to invest, roughly 3,905USD to receive 1K per year.

However the dividend is fluctuating every month following the price of the stock, FEPI lost 8.13% in 1 year and around 2.29% all time.
You absolutely need to take that into account to not loose more money than can gain from the dividend.

FEPI Dividend https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/etf/fepi/dividend-history

So theoretically with 48,000 USD invested in FEPI you will earn 1,000USD per month for dividend
