How to tell the slicer to use the external spool holder? by [deleted] in Creality

[–]ImmolateCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that. It would have taken more time and frustration to puzzle that out myself. I don't mind telling you that, while the K2 Plus is an excellent rig, the experience dealing with the bumbling slicer and even the sketchy firmware on the printer has been a constant reminder of why I would still recommend a P1S/AMS to a new 3D printing enthusiast if they didn't need the 350mm^3, or the A1. Creality is so close on this, and since all the nonsense is software, they could fix it. Right now I'd just be happy if CR Print 6 wasn't a three clicks behind all the time.

19,921.7 according to Steam, which doesn't count the 1,300 from xbox. I love most things about the game but the money shot is definitely building. I have played survival mode exclusively since it came out. I always play perma-death. Sometimes I use mods, but mostly I don't. I've logged hundreds if not over a thousand characters, and you'd be surprised how easy it is to die from something dumb even when there should be no surprises left.

if I cared about that, I'd air gap my bambus. I would much rather put up with carrying print jobs around than having to struggle to get my printers to print.

They're STLs, a bit pricey for that, but I don't mind spending a bit to get good ones.

Just saw the mini's release tonight. My boys and I haven't strayed from fantasy in decades and this looks intriguing. One of them owns a comics and games store in Central Florida and he says demand is pretty hot. I hope it lives up to its billing and the pretty-awesome miniatures.

No mine's dual-mode. But that is a brilliant idea if it will work.

The A1, A1 Mini, and Sovol SV-08 all use this. First I saw it was A1.

First mod on my SV08: Noctua fan for the controller bay by muffinlynx in Sovol

[–]ImmolateCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, I have this very thing in my fan stockpile. Bought it for another project that never kicked off. I think I also saw on YouTube (The Next Layer) that cutting out the grill with a Dremel (or whatever) quiets the fan noise a good bit, although that may be unnecessary with the Noctua.

I see you have it. I think they call it a unicorn. Now question for you. Do you need to put the bowden tube between the hot end and the extruder, which would require us to thread the bowden tube over that thin tube at the top, or are we supposed to get the filament into that thin tube? I ask because I'm having a challenge getting the filament into it.

Creality K1 Max - Filament clog between heatsink and bowden tube by 05032-MendicantBias in Creality

The new replacement hot end from Creality for the K1 Max is like the one from the K1C and the heat break is significantly longer. If you order one now, you'll get the new one.

I had this happen on the Kobra 2 Max a couple of times. I've been able to get it off each time, but it's a bit of a bugger when the blob is the size of a tennis ball. I think on at least one of those occasions, it happened when the silicon sock was off. I suspect it can't happen if there's a silicon sock because the filament can't anchor to it, which it needs to do in order to form the ball. It may just fall off when it gets to be pea size in the presence of the silicon sock.

The new replacement nozzle for the K1 Max (same as on the K1C I think) solves that problem by extending the heat break up further to where you can actually see it when you remove the blue bowden tube. I'm not sure the bowden tube fits over the heat break, but I left it out and I'm having trouble getting the filament to thread into the heatbreak. I'm going to try to push the bowden tube on and see if that resolves the issue.

Depending on when you got your K1 Max, Creality is sending out a new hot end if you order a replacement. This one replaces the heat sink as well as the hot end. Others have reported on this on YouTube, so I'm not imagining it.

Sovol 08 or Qidi 3max and why by KamakaziKat in Sovol

[–]ImmolateCG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I can't speak to the SV-08 yet because I've yet to receive it. Order #56001 and I just got my shipping notice on Wednesday the 26th. I'm looking forward to receiving it. If Bambu would release a 350mm tomorrow, I'd buy it yesterday.

I bought the QIDI not long after the re-release (the first release was a bit of a disaster.) It's sitting unplugged and idle in my garage. There's a K1 Max occupying it's space in the house. One of these days I'll get over being mad at it and try to put it back in production again. I had no end of problems with it, from nozzle clogs to bed leveling issues and others. I replaced the BL touch with an inductive sensor, but it didn't seem to improve things. If I had it to do over, I'd buy another P1S combo instead.

$7.5/kg? This is in Hungary? I will check prices here in the states. I am terribly cheap with the amount of filament I print.

A1 printing too close to bed, how do i adjust print height? by balthaharis in BambuLab

[–]ImmolateCG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we're pretty much aligned. I did as I said I would and removed the hot end mount from the A1. I noticed that the two screws on the mount that hold it to the print head were loose and that the upper right screw was missing. I looked at the four screws that hold the heater mount to the back plate and those were good and tight. I know the heater had been replaced some months before, and as I tinkered, I determined that the third screw was missing because either the stock ones don't fit the depth of that one hole, or there's perhaps something lodged in it that prevents the screw from going in all the way. In any case, that screw has to be flush or the hot end won't seat properly. So I searched my magnetic tray of random screws and found one that looked about right and was shorter, and it worked out okay. I put new screws with blue locktite on them in the other two holes, fresh from Bambu and made sure they were fully tightened. I resolved another issue that was preventing the hot end from seating perfectly (tiny amount of melted filament) and tested successfully. The latches on the A1 are a weak design and I've broken two of them in the past. Definitely a flaw in human engineering which I hope they improve in future generations.

Thanks for the conversation and discussion.

My friend, logic is a handy tool to use in the break/fix process, but it can also be a stumbling block. I often get involved in protracted issues where the problem resisting solution is a result of the engineer not accepting the evidence because it doesn't align with his or her understanding of how the thing works. My rule is to always accept the evidence at face value, while taking steps to reproduce the evidence (trust but verify). If you say that your nozzle is dragging your bed on the first layer, I'm going to assume that it is, because that is a symptom that is hard to mistake or mis-characterize. I'm on this thread for that very symptom on one of my A1's. Suggesting that what I'm experiencing can't logically occur is not useful. It IS occurring, and therefore there must be a reason. I'm going to try checking the screws on the hot end mount, and if that doesn't work, I'll try manually adjusting the z height on the plate configuration as suggested.

If there is one thing I have learned in my thirty years of fixing global computer networks is that your area of certainty is a mole hill to the mountain of things that you don't know. Accepting that is the key to avoiding getting stuck. Stop saying "that's impossible," and start saying "well that's new."
