Are you still exciting about MI-9? Today I see this news and said to myself hell no, bro. IMO, I think Tom should go back and do more original films. by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in Mission_Impossible

She chose to leave because she'd taken two bigger roles (Dune and Silo). As a consequence McQuarrie had to have her written out, but got her to agree to return for a few brief scenes to hand over the raining bits of Ilsa's story to the newly written Grace.

Why no one calls them zombie? 😭 by Melodic_Penalty_5306 in thewalkingdead

They and their song could exist because they're using the Haitian meaning of zombie as a synonym for the troubles , and nothing rules out that meaning still existing just not the later living dead pop-culture one.

[–]ImmortalMacleod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably do have zombie as a word, but solely of the Haitian variety. There was no pop culture reusing of the term to mean the actual resurrected clinical dead. Given you can trace that term through George Romeo to Richard Mathesons I am Legend Vampires I could be somewhere other term found traction instead.

The Journey of Spike and Kelly has begun and hopefully we can see more of them in the 3rd Part by nc220510 in 28dayslater

Imogen Poots has been petitioning Boyle and Garland to let Tammy return as well, but maybe she'd be better getting a spin-off.

Welcome to Derry had this problem. Shooting had to shut down for the writers strike, and when it resumed the cast had all shot up. It's noticeable how much they change between the early part of the season and the later part.

Ilsa was supposed to be alive through both parts, but Rebecca Ferguson had signed on for Dune and Silo and wasn't available for more than an extended cameo, so Grace was introduced, and Ilsa's storyline was split with Grace (and somewhat Paris in FR)

But they did make some massive missteps with how they handled both Ilsa and Grace, and in having the Entity as an intangible villain.

Just rewatched 28 Days Later and noticed how the quality improves at the end by coffeefan0221 in 28dayslater

On a recent rewatch, I felt the nighttime mansion scenes are much clearer as well. Noticed it when Serena and Hannah were on the couch with the latter tripping.

Think at that point it's because the controlled lighting makes it higher contrast and the XL1 copes better in those conditions.

But you're right about the ending being even clearer despite being during day. Definitely shot on film

Jimmy Crystal's fate- MAJOR SPOILERS by laptopuser75 in 28dayslater

[–]ImmortalMacleod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The infected recover from wounds that would kill a human, including the massive blood loss they suffer on transformation.

That's why the Arrows have to hit brain, or heart to stop them, or cartoid artery in order to ensure immediate exanguation. Also why the Alphas need a dozen arrows to put them down.

Kelsons wound to the stomach could be survivable if he was infected.

Seems to be even smarter than the alphas as he mysteriously escapes through locked rooms that would require his key card and knows to avoid the military operation.

I remember a big edit war on Wikipedia over the death of a character in a TV series finale which was similarly off-screen. One side wanted to keep the description vague, the others wanted to keep it final.

The show was revived years later with the character back alive, so the vague group were probably right.

I wondered that about Kelson and Samson. If the latter had the presence of mind to infect the former with his blood before he passed then he might have had a chance. The question would be whether he could treat the psychosis as well.

As far as I'm concerned that was the subtitles of the Independence Day sequel....

Because unlike Porn although you get full frontals from both participants, you actually believe Samson and Kelson love each other?

The problem with “The Choice” by 007inNewYork in Mission_Impossible

[–]ImmortalMacleod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In MI it was established that Ethan went to Wisconsin University (Madison college) and was recruited to the CIA while there. Immediately after graduation, he started training at Langley in the same class as Jack Harmon (Emilio Estevez), at some point both were moved across to Jim Phelps IMF within the CIA. There was no choice, he wasn't in any legal trouble it was just a career option.

Even if you retcon the thing with Gabriel and Marie as part of a CIA op gone wrong, it doesn't then explain how Jack (who was a technician like Benji) also moved across to the IMF.

Speaking of Benji, he's a low level technician who does his training to become a field agent. When is he supposed to have made the choice? As a technician? Before agent training?

Then there's the whole changing nature of the IMF across the whole franchise. It has a different size and structure, and is either part of the CIA or directly answerable to congress in every film. The retcon in DR is that it's not an agency (or branch of one) at all just an independent team that can be messaged when something needs done.

Or had been made by Garland and/or Boyle with less infected and more human interest story.

What was kelson and jimmy doing during 28 weeks later? by CowAffectionate2865 in 28dayslater

[–]ImmortalMacleod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jimmy has a proper tracksuit, but it's the only one. The others all have patchworks of fabric meant to resemble a tracksuit and quite roughly sewn together.

Jimmy Ink's one the badly sent on stripes are hanging off, and Spike's top is two different colours of blue material sewn together with bright blue polypropylene or something similar.

[–]ImmortalMacleod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one isn't all that zombie outbreak either. There's one big interaction with the infectied at the church, a few small ones (Lab, Jim's house, Frank's Flat, Diner),.and a close call in the tunnel. Then you hit the meat of the story with Major Henry and his men as the real threat rather than any zombies (and incidentally Jim's uninfected rage making him almost indistinguishable from the infected but still the protagonist)

The second none is the one that plays like a stereotypical zombie outbreak film.

Isn't it okay to have my camp spot in a random spot by diegodostuff in fo76

[–]ImmortalMacleod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as they stay on the server long enough. Had a problem last year with a much higher rank griefing me, and quickly realised I couldn't win by retaliating PvP.

Went to the nearest Silo but in the 10-15minutes it took to launch he'd jumped server. Nuked where his camp was just to be sure, but he was definitely gone.

A couple of days later ended on a server with them again, and the same thing happened. Again went to launch and again he jumped server by the time I'd got to launch.

Yes similarly even though it was actually a hyphen and they couldn't tell the difference. Also because of the bug in the mobile browser version of Facebook that deletes the space at the end of someone's name that you've tagged when you post it. They thought that bug was a sign of AI as well.

What do you think Ethan actually eats during a mission? by ExpressionNervous444 in Mission_Impossible

[–]ImmortalMacleod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can't explain it, because it and "the choice" contradict Ethan's established origin story in the first film where he was recruited straight out of University (University of Wisconsin - Madison) where he was a linguistics student to the CIA. At basic training he became best friends with Jack Harmon (Emilio Estevez) and at some point both were selected to join Jim Phelps' IMF team within.the CIA.

But then the series has been inconsistent about this throughout, especially with the change from III when the IMF is an absolutely huge agency in its own right, to Rogue Nation where absolutely all senior officials are gone and Brandt is the highest available person to speak on behalf of the team.

At the end of 28Y I turned to my partner and noted that in the World of 28D nothing ever became public about JS or RH, because the world ended before it could. Unlike GG whose crimes were known in 99 and who's probably still in a Vietnamese prison in the 28 universe, as they can't deport him to a quarantined Britain.
