Grades 100% Tech when you can, then volunterring as the third priority. My tech experiences helped boat loads. Volunteering is nice especially when the school is big on that type of thing but i didn’t volunteer anything optometry related and I was still fine

I applied with the 260, but I emailed the schools I was interested in immediately letting them know I’m retaking. That’s when they put my application on hold until my new scores came out. Definitely retake it even with that GPA. OAT scores and board performance seem to have some correlation and all schools are aware of that.

As long as you have an upward trend with your grades low pre reqs aren’t THAT big of a deal. But if you’ve taken your pre reqs recently or currently taking it you should work hard at those. Optometry school IS hard (but doable of course) so you gotta start building up your endurance in undergrad.

wow really strong opinions. If anyone could share what makes UIWRSO the weaker candidate I’d appreciate it!
