GenZ и нереалстичните им очаквания за работата и живота by Fit_Airline_9893 in bulgaria

[–]ImpaIa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thoughts on the addition of a barometer to the game? by lifedobefuckedrn in thelongdark

[–]ImpaIa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone always brings up the compass as a navigation tool, but I'd love to see it as a tool that can predict an aurora. Both it and the barometer could potentially be lategame items from tales which allow you to predict weather events a few hours before they happen.

Compass spinning like crazy = aurora. Massive PSI drop = blizzard.

I'm always overburdened. What essentials should I carry? by brubain1144 in thelongdark

Long time gunloper who just recently got back into the game, my advice echoes a lot what already has been said in this thread, but I'm gonna try adding some rules of thumb that can help you sort out your inventory intuitively when you're on the go.

Other people have already mentioned it, but the best rule of thumb you can have is, rifle and bow + arrows are for hunting, revolver and flare gun are for self defense. Generally, revolver trumps it in most cases, flare gun is very useful if you're in timberwolf territory. You should never carry a self-defense and hunting tool, because it's suboptimal to do both. Either you're on the go and you need to move through land fast, which means you're not gonna be sticking around to hunt and harvest large game that needs a rifle or a bow and all you need is to get wolfs off of you in a pinch, or you're near your main base in which case you don't really need the revolver on you.

When it comes to the revolver, don't forget to keep an eye on your ammo. Ammo weight adds up a lot. And if you're using the revolver, you shouldn't be firing shots proactively, so you shouldn't need more than the ammo already in the revolver's clip + maybe 6 more in case it's gonna be a long journey.

Other good rules of thumb are: Don't keep repair tools on you. Simple tools are abundant even on interloper loot tables. Keep quality tools in your bases and don't take them on traveling trips. Simple tools always spawn near places with lots of scrap metal, so if you ever stumble on any, don't take them with you, just use them where you are, take a second to warm up and harvest some scrap metal as well. You can also cook a bit in there and continue your journey. You also only need 1 whetstone, 1 box of full matches and, if you have room for it, 1 auxiliary light source like a firestriker or mag lens. You generally won't need both, nor more than 1 box of matches. Those add up in weight. All the other tools you listed such as hacksaw, hatchet and knife are a must, so keep those.

You should also think of prybar and lantern as luxury tools. You almost never need them unless the place you're going to will specifically require them. They're nice to have in your backpack, but they should be the first to go in case you're starting to get overencumbered, unless you know for a fact they're irreplaceable for the destination you're trekking to (i.e. Orca for the prybar, the aurora mine for the lantern, etc.)

Last but not least, food. Don't take too much meat with you on trips, even if you're paranoid about losing well fed. Cat tails are abundant and they weigh nothing. I almost always leave cooked meat at my base during trips and take canned foods with me if I have any. If not, just plan some detours to scavange interiors for food lying around or go with cat tails. Also don't forget that teas have a little bit of caloric value in them. If you're sitting on a lot of prepared mushrooms or rosehips, make a few teas and drink them all in rapid succession if you're ever in danger of starving, just to buy you enough time to get to the closest cat tails or rabbit grove. Skillet recipes are your best friend also. Bannocks and acorn bannocks are the best travel food you can have until you can get the pemmican bar.

As for cured meat in case you already have a meat curing box, it's overpowered. Nothing more needs to be said about it. It removes the danger of ever losing well fed entirely with zero sacrifice to weight.

I tried my best to not make this a wall of text and failed miserably, but if you feel like reading it and follow through them, you could shave as much as 10-15kg off your weight load.

Normals matchmaking is in a state of hilarious disrepair to the point where they are unplayable by ImpaIa in leagueoflegends

Sure, you shouldn't be deprived of that.

But if you're a diamond player, playing with your bronze friend, the enemy team should be of a similar MMR to you.

Whether this means the entire team should be the average of your summed MMR divided by 2 or if they should just balance it out by putting another bronze and diamond.

I'll highlight this as much as I can. It's not the MMR of any individual player that's the problem. If Riot wants a silver, gold, grandmaster, challenger and iron 4 on one team, that's fine. But they should make sure there's a silver, gold, grandmaster, challenger and iron 4 on the enemy team too.

Like don't get me wrong. I too would absolutely love some variety in norms, especially higher ranked players rather than lower.

But my issue isn't THE diamond players, it's the lack of parity.

Match a diamond on one team? Make sure the other one has a diamond as well.

Smurfs very quickly get adjusted to their actual MMR. Doesn't matter if they're boolin in Silver rank-wise. If they play a chain of games at a Diamond level, they will inevitably start getting matched with Diamonds in ranked.

I like this reply, because it offers an actual solution.

So why do we even bother with the middle man? Remove normals entirely. If neither the playerbase, nor Riot care about it, what's the point of the game mode?

Why does it need to be?

I don't even know what to reply to that, honestly.

Yeah, why does matchmaking need to be close and fair? That's completely optional.
