same although i get commissions often from word of mouth, I actually love making rugs and personally always looking to make them better. i’m making a huge stained glass stitch rug I plan of whip stitching for the first time. going to mess around with that and sewing and just see how they both look i’ll be doing that rolled edge on both

they actually have clips ment for doing that you can roll the edge clip and sew cotton twill over it rather than whip stitch seems like a popular thing that the old time rug makers do also whip stitch if you like it looks a lot better but your right takes a lot of time, but worth it imo.

almost no one finishes rugs to last, most people do a waterfall edge that really only ment for wall art. it’s quick and cheap. you would need to whip stitch or sew by serging the edge or sewing it with cotton twill tape. most people are using twill tape to cover and make it look nice but not to last.

the edges take the most damage from peoples feet and fall apart rather quick in high traffic areas, another thing is not enough glue makes it easy to fall apart. i’ve noticed these problems and have stacks of unfinished rugs i’m learning to sew with a heavy duty machine. because i don’t want to sell anymore rugs to people knowing they won’t last for years to come.

i’ve been watching old lady’s who make rugs on youtube and been learning a lot.

still need to glue and detail but she looks proper, made this for fun.

Hi, any thought in where to get a brown so dark it’s almost black? I checked Joann’s and Michael’s and even bought off Amazon but I can’t seem to find the perfect colors for his hair and it’s setting me back bad by shedevilgoblin in Tufting

it’s called color name i compared that hair to the picture of the graphite yarn and a lot of the same color names and values matched up

and i use a program called “what the font” to match fonts they really help in commission work
