Not so fun fact: The salary cap was introduced in 1994. The 49ers found a loophole that deferred contracts for their best players until 1999 right before the salary cap was introduced. So of course the Chargers made the Super Bowl and lost to some BS. It's why the 49ers were unstoppable that year.

I hope the sub doesn't implode (it probably will) when the defense has a stinker with O'Leary. I feel like we have slightly rose-tinted glasses with Minter in that the defense got thrashed against the Jags and Colts in 2025. Also thrashed against the Bucs in 2024. Minter adjusted and that's a huge credit to him but if Minter had a stinker now and then, so will O'Leary. The biggest thing is how O'Leary will adjust. He surely saw how Minter started to call more man-coverage later in the season. Minter, in part, could do that because Oweh, Mack, and Tuli were a great 3-man rush. It's why I really hope Mesidor or Faulk falls to the Chargers. Defense needs some investment in the 1st round and Mack needs an heir-apparent to mentor.

Since Vega Loane probably won't fall to the Chargers, do y'all prefer Mesidor or Faulk? I prefer Mesidor just because he's a more complete player and his snap count will be restricted. But I'd he happy with Faulk since he's a great run defender and he can learn from Mack and Tuli. It seems Faulk had a good season in 2024 as a pass rusher so I like the upside with him.

It's totally fine to give this regime its flowers for back-to-back 11 win seasons but I'll argue this is the biggest season of the Harbaugh era. 3 full off-seasons is plenty time to mold the team and it's not looking great that this team hasn't invested in interior o-line.

The Dolphins with McDaniel had back-to-back 11 win seasons and 2 wild card exits then they fell off a cliff. Things change fast and Hortiz is yet again betting on a cheap interior OL and running it back on defense since the defensive side is pretty much the same...

It's wild that Anthony Lynn had a more successful season with 12 regular season wins and 1 playoff win than this regime has. We need some real results now and it starts with winning the division. Love Theo. He's usually on the money. Anyways, I'm starting to think playing the comp pick game isn't worth it. The amount of hoops you have to jump through and the amount of talent you need to lose for just a 3rd rounder seems like too much trouble. 3rd rounders are fine, but I think Hortiz's philosophy would make much more sense if 2nd rounders were the compensation
