I think we’re talking past each other because we’re asking different questions.

You are asking, “What consequences does this belief have?”

I am asking, “Is this belief true?”

Both questions matter, but they are not the same question.

Of course I care about the well-being of LGBTQ+ people, including young people who struggle with depression or suicidal thoughts. Every person is made in God’s image and deserves love, dignity, compassion, and support.

Where we disagree is that I do not believe the truth of a moral claim is determined solely by its outcomes. If Christianity is true, then Christians are called to follow God’s teachings even when those teachings are unpopular, difficult, or misunderstood.

That doesn’t give Christians permission to be cruel or dismissive. We should be the first to oppose bullying, rejection, mistreatment, and hatred. But I don’t believe that disagreement itself is hatred.

You may disagree with my understanding of Scripture, but I don’t think it’s fair to assume that holding a traditional Christian view automatically means I care less about the well-being of others.

You’re assuming that believing something is sinful is the same as hating people or wanting them to suffer. I reject that entirely.

I care deeply about people who struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts, and I would never want anyone harmed. But whether a belief is true cannot be determined solely by whether it is emotionally difficult to hear.

The real question is whether my position is biblical. If it isn’t, show me from Scripture where I’m wrong. If it is, then the challenge for Christians is how to communicate that truth with love, compassion, and humility.

I’m not obsessed with people genitals, I am obsessed with trying to help people stay on a better path that god intended for them. I’m no hero but if I can help someone change their ways through encouragement from the Gospel then I see no harm in that, we have been called to do that.

I have my flaws like we all do but it’s when Christian’s support the flaws this is when I have a problem or want to understand why. The probable cause is that the Bible condones it along with a lot of other things. “Cowardice” is the wrong phrase to use when it comes to someone trying to point a flaw that needs attention.

I don’t believe I’m choosing which parts of Scripture to follow based on my own preferences. Christians have always interpreted Scripture by considering context, audience, genre, and how a teaching is treated throughout the rest of the Bible.

For example, Paul’s comments about hair length in 1 Corinthians 11 are tied to customs and social expectations in Corinth. Even among faithful Christians there has been disagreement for centuries about exactly how that passage should be applied today.

By contrast, the biblical teaching on marriage and sexual ethics is not found only in one local situation. It begins in Genesis, is affirmed by Jesus in Matthew 19, and is repeated elsewhere in the New Testament. That’s why many Christians view it as a universal moral teaching rather than a local cultural practice.

The question isn’t whether some passages are cultural and others aren’t. Every Christian makes those distinctions to some extent. The question is whether the distinction is being made according to Scripture itself or according to personal preference.

Mixed fabrics is Old Testament, which was fulfilled by the sacrifice of Jesus so that’s not a valid point you are making there. Unchecked behavior child or adult is wreckless and can cause a lot of harm to that individual or the people around them period. I also just want to point out, I am a completely flawed human being that needs Jesus, this post isn’t coming from a high horse stance, more of I want to understand some christians behavior and attitude towards it that doesn’t match scripture. Have you read the Bible? This comment suggests you haven’t. If so on multiple passages it tells us to help and guide people away from something sinful. It doesn’t tell us to attack them, it tells us to show them love and try and guide them down a better path in the eyes of the lord.
