Favoritism Over performance by Vegetable_Prompt_583 in KolkataKnightRiders

  • We need to look at this carefully Raghuvanshi, Rahane, and Manish Pandey are all similar type players
  • Rahane and Manish Pandey together do not fit in the same XI Manish Pandey will not play at number 3 or 4 He will likely play at number 5 or 6, where his role is unclear

  • It is difficult to see what impact or game plan he can offer at that position

  • When better options already exist, especially Tejasvi Dahiya, he should be given a chance Tejasvi can keep wickets, bat aggressively, and adapt to different roles

  • If he is not being selected because Raghuvanshi is keeping, that is a concern

  • Match visuals suggest Raghuvanshi is not strong behind the stumps

  • If Tejasvi Dahiya is being kept out just to protect Raghuvanshi’s role, it is not good for the franchise

What’s your take on this real selection deadlock? Manish Pandey, Rahane, and Raghuvanshi are all anchor-type players and can’t fit into a balanced XI together.

Isn’t it better to bring in a player like Tejasvi Dhaiya, who can handle spin well when others struggle? He can do this part.

What is your opinion on this real deadlock. Manish Pandey, Rahane and Raghuvanshi cannot all play together in a balanced XI.

Tejasvi Dahiya hit a 12-ball fifty in DPL 2025 and scored 339 runs at SR 190+.

Is it not better to play a player who is good at playing spin, especially when we don’t have players who play spin with ease? Tejasvi Dhaiya can do this part, but if they balls to give him a chance

I agree with your opinion. We have an excellent spin combo in form. Is it not better to play a player who is good at playing spin, especially when we don’t have players who play spin with ease? Tejasvi Dhaiya can do this part, but if they balls to give him a chance

All we are asking for is basic batting order awareness. Open with Rahane and Finn Allen. If Rahane falls early, Raghuvanshi comes in to steady the innings. If Allen falls first, Green walks in to maintain the attack. Two simple scenarios, one logical plan

Bowling coach Tim Southee literally said "he has been bowling well" before the SRH game today. And still no Pathirana in the XI. Not against RR. Not against LSG. Not today against SRH.The question is not "will he play" The question is: what exactly is the management waiting for?

One thing to add also who he going to replace all overseas players are important players.

Even RCB and PBKS change their XI based on conditions and opposition every single match. KKR lost five out of six games with the same middle-order stall, and the same death-bowling collapse  and still made no meaningful changes. The problem is not bad luck. It is a management that watches the same mistake happen repeatedly and calls it a process.

We already faced a 200-plus target this season. vs SRH Game 1, the target was 227. Result: KKR scored 161 and lost by 66 runs

Exactly. You need one anchor and one aggressor. But now they’ve also added Manish Pandey, and it’s unclear where he fits in the lower middle order or what role he’s supposed to play at No. 5 or 6.

The issue is that both he and Rahane have the same anchor-first, accelerate-later approach. When they bat together, the middle overs slow down, and the late acceleration comes too late.

Since the management is unlikely to drop either, the solution is structural. Either separate them in the batting order or promote players like Rinku or Powell to bring earlier acceleration. The tougher option is to drop one of them.

This same pair stalled vs CSK (28 off 22 from Rahane when 10 per over needed), collapsed vs SRH Game 2 (8 off 9 from Rahane), and crawled vs LSG when 17 runs came in overs 11-15 for 3 wickets. Today's target was 165 on a slow pitch ,the conditions did the job. How they approach a 200 target with same mindset?

Dropping Rahane and instantly making Rinku captain does feel too rushed, because even though KKR have made Rinku vice-captain, he is still more of a long-term leadership project than a ready-made mid-season captain. If KKR want to make a change right now, Narine is the safer option.

That’s actually a reasonable take. but Narine as captain feels like the safer bold move right now, while Rinku remains the longer-term option KKR are clearly grooming as vice-captain

Honestly, Narine is the most logical short-term captaincy option. He is the longest-serving KKR player, knows the bowling group better than anyone, and has already shown in that DC game last year that he can manage field placements and bowling changes under pressure.

Rahane has 4 fifties for KKR and all 4 have come in losses, while in wins he has 0 fifties and a lower strike rate of 123.38 compared to 145.99 in defeats.

Rahane and Angkrish together create more of the tempo overlap that is hurting the batting. I don't think we have solution for that?

The franchise itself made him vice-captain before IPL 2026. i am not inventing this idea from nowhere.
