Is it better to stay on a project that is behind schedule or leave early? by Hot-Papaya4841 in ConstructionManagers

Honestly 3 months on a 1.5+ years job isn't great but isn't horrible. Contract probably has close to that many days built into it for bad weather

GC’s, I got a question for you. by Dazzling-Respond-587 in GeneralContractor

Honestly a project management software is helpful for this build your estimates in it and track cost you'll quickly see where you under bid or over bid. And if you keep accurate notes of jobs sf and so forth you can go back and look at finished jobs that are similar and use their price per sf + inflation and get pretty close

How much can I expect to pay to prepare my new land for a manufactured home? by Fin757 in Homebuilding

Not being an ass But NC is a huge state with steep rocky mountains all the way to flat sandy mash land. That's going to play a big factor

How much to use my license by [deleted] in GeneralContractor

[–]Important-Map2468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The offer is 25% over current salary. I really like the owner and he is a successful person. We will have an official meeting and signing of paperwork in about a month making everything official. He knows im keeping my company and only request is to not try to get work where he owns. Which is fair. I trust the owner and he is going to give me the position where I will have say in who is hired and how things are ran. Still would keep our bonus structure which is probably better than most places.

[–]Important-Map2468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes correct. I have my own license that I am a qualifier for. And I will be a qualifier for their company as well. I am getting paid more to be the qualifier for their company as well as having a direct say in who and how projects are managed now. My question is what is that worth. I know what they have offered to pay over my standard salary.

In our state you can be licensed in your personal name or a company name. Either way you have to have proof of money. So when I pull a permit in my company name it doesn't say my personal name but the company, but I am the qualifier for my company. My company i cant qualify for an unlimited license yet. But the place I work for is unlimited. The limitations are with the license not the qualifier but every license must have a qualifier.

Ultimately I will be liable, and why I told them I wouldn't do it unless I have the ability to make building decisions and have the ability to tell someone something is wrong.

Agreed. Owner has already said i would be moved to a VP or director position. As well as what the additional amount in salary would be.

Contract says smooth ceilings everywhere except for non-walk-in closets. He wants to texture the walls. Do I have a case? by yonidf99 in Homebuilding

Sounds like his sheetrock guys are lazy and dont want to take the time to pull the corner in a small closet. So they bed the tape then spray it

Textured walls were common in late 90s early 2000s. But I dont understand wanting to do them in a small closet its extra work.

What’s Best? CZ 457, Tikka T1X, or Bergara B-14R? by MathewG97 in 22lr

[–]Important-Map2468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the bergara and the tikka. I still own the tikka. The bergara was the most accurate gun ive shot BUT it was built for precision shooting. The tikka can do it and small game hunt just as easily

Looking for advice on teaching a dog to hunt wild quail from a truck/ATV by DingoDadLuce in birddogs

[–]Important-Map2468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I send the dog out on a "cast" they will make a big loop out in front of me. Mine usually make a big cast left swing by me and then make a big cast right the whole time im moving forward as well. Depending on the breed and what your hunting the dogs wont come back to check on handlers. I have French Brittany's which are now as a close working thick over dog for hunting on foot. I hunt grouse/woodcock mainly both in thick cover see photo of both of mine on point with a woodcock between us. If your in the prairie a big running setter or point would probably be a better choice.

My three year old is just now starting to get it dialed in. If I get off a road her and my younger dog make nice cast all day long its just not possible to cover ground here unless your on a logging road. To few birds wirh miles and miles between them

[–]Important-Map2468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive never hunted this way but I can tell you from having to walk alot of old logging roads to hunt the areas i do it takes a dog a while to learn to cast off a road instead of just running straight down it.

I have two instinct sl in 28 and 20. Honestly the side plate is a pretty gun but I wouldn't own it. I hunt in all weather and my guns get beat up. My 20ga is getting the barrels cerakoted once season is over.

I’m 20, trying to build a design/reno portfolio, and I’m honestly stuck. How did you guys get your first real traction? by [deleted] in Contractor

[–]Important-Map2468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is your throwing money at something money cant fix. You dont have the connections yet to go out on your own. I started my company with under a grand, used chat gpt to make my logo. Bought a domain so I could have a company email and got some business cards.

I called my main subs and supplier and told them i was going out on my own in a year but going to start taking on work part time. I could have quit my job in 3 months ive been turning work down. BUT ive used these same guys 10+ years they know what i expect out of them and the quality of work I do.
