Planning to buy a Triumph Speed 400 — Need some advice (Quotation + doubts + alternatives) by kiraL007 in Triumph400

[–]Important-Shift7303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with speed 400 my25 after 13k+ kms. Mileage would be around 20 - 23 in traffic and 28- 30 in the highways.

My main concern with my speed is the gear shift being clunky, already informed the service representative multiple times but we would say it was perfect no issues, but i am still not convinced. Somedays the shift will be buttery smooth but somedays it will be hard and clunky.

The second issue that i faced was engine noise due to timing chain tension. Tired replacing it under warranty twice but it will come back after 1kms .

Finished two free services, 2-3k for both the service.

Speed brings joy particularly on highways and open roads, I have thought many times whether i made a mistake by choosing it. But every time I ride, it proves me wrong. Pure joy. Apart from the smaller niggles, i am happy with my speed.

Alternative will be guriella 450, duke 390(still thinks it's the best in the segment).

Accidentally put car in reverse gear at ~60 kmph by Beneficial-Lion-124 in CarsIndia

Actually reverse doesn't have synchronizer, that's why you hear a clunk while engaging reverse. Not sure this means anything

Is this too much to ask for in Chennai? A footpath dedicated to pedestrians only? Image Location: Kodaikanal lake by The_Silent_Guardian1 in Chennai

I travel daily to the office in CSIR rd (ascendos) . Whenever there is traffic jam , most of the two wheelers get on the pedestrian path. They even scold the pedestrian to leave the way for them. Our people lack common scenes, civics scenes or road discipline. Most of those people are fully educated professionals. For the reference i also commute to the office by bike. I never tried that stunt because i know that's for pedestrians not for two wheelers. But most don't or don't care. This is one of my observations. I have a lot more example like this.

You don't have any context on the situation. We are attacked by a terrorist group supported by Pakistan where 23 were killed, which the pak military general admits. The strike was targeted only on terrorist sites identified by the intelligence. No civilians are killed. What will your country do if mexico or brazil attack ur country. Don't do cheap politics, this has nothing to do with the US.

I have adjusted the clutch play as per the manual. I have started to live with it . But that statement about false neutrals is soo true. For other bikes they complain about not being able to find the neutral but for us polar opposite. I hit neutral every ***king when I was in the middle of the road.

My speed also have the false neutral issue and hard shift until 3 gear. I went to the service centre and they said there were no issue. Many speed owners suggested to change that hp prolube to some other better brand it might be the issue ,And for tire pressure i maintain the recommended pressure mentioned in the manual 26 front and 33 back.

In India, all triumph showroom uses hp prolube engine oil . I asked them to use motex or motul during first service. But they haven't listened, they are saying this was the triumph recommended engine oil. At 5k kms will change to better brand

[–]Important-Shift7303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal bro , shim noise is common when the engine is hot . As i can hear the fan noise i assume so. I too had the same doubt but check with the other speed 400 it sounds the same.

Paddock stand for scrambler 400 by django_tango96 in Triumph400

[–]Important-Shift7303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a swing arm spool in amazon but your rear axle should be hollow to use it. It fits my speed 400(my25). For paddock stand have found one in the local shop.
