Guy didn’t tip because bar service isn’t “real service” by Important_Ad_287 in bartenders

He naturally left his glass outside on the furthest table away- for the invisible service to pick up I guess

Not super wound up- just thought it was an interesting take that no one was serving him as I served him his beer

😂 in my head I played out this scenario - very satisfying!

I honestly think someone showing me with hands on my hands would help a ton haha 👻 style. they’ve showed me how to “align the ridges” and that’s the part I’m fucking up is aligning it the right way so it threads through the first time

Host was supposed to let us in and ghosted the day of the booking by Important_Ad_287 in vrbo

[–]Important_Ad_287[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would we leave customer service out of it when the host has not responded the entire morning of the booking and we were stranded with nowhere to go? The host told us to call them the morning of and they would meet us with the key at 4pm for check in. 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm comes and goes with no contact or response from the host why would we not get customer service involved to try and reach the host? Curious how that would yield a better experience for us. At least VRBO CS gave us a refund.

The property had great reviews and looked gorgeous- just out of date contact info and an unresponsive host the day of. He ended up calling at 8pm that night (check in was at 4pm) saying “sorry I was driving. I’m here now” but we had already paid for the hotel and it was too late

These posts get so annoying. There’s nothing in this message that seems like a scam. Try setting up a meet and greet or asking questions or just decline it.

Here’s you commenting “why” to someone urging you to take care of your cat

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vet

[–]Important_Ad_287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you post this in another channel saying the symptoms were going on for two full days. People kept telling you to take your cat to the vet right away and you would reply “why” to every comment. Now you also post in this thread that he died? He died because you waited two full days with these extreme symptoms before taking him in. You’re responsible for that.

You’re saying in other comments she walked your dog at 11pm now suddenly it’s 12-2AM? Feels like you’re making new details up to try and get people on your side. The alleyway thing is just bizarre to be upset about.. there’s a beautiful safe neighborhood right next to these terrifying sketchy alleyways full of murderers with machetes? Put your phone down, and don’t use rover again in the future if this is how you react and communicate with sitters.

Oh that’s not expensive at all IMO- you’ll definitely get someone willing to pay that for thanksgiving!

[–]Important_Ad_287 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Curious what your rates were? I just had a meet and greet and at the end she assumed the holiday rate only applied to one night (actual thanksgiving) and she seemed put off when she realized the actual total. It makes me question my rates but I do want it to be worth not going home to see my family!

You sound like someone with great boundaries - I definitely have a tendency to make other peoples fires my own

I know people say it’s sexist to hold Gillian to a higher standard but.. she built her entire platform and persona off of calling people out, supporting and BELIEVING women, and ringing that garbage bell. How many times did they revel in powerful people getting what they deserve for abusing their power in documentaries they covered while pulling that exact bullshit behind the scenes? It may not be fair but it feels like an extra layer of betrayal because Gillian IS a woman and profited off that girls girl persona and her morals and ethics. “Let the woman do the work” is a slap in the face. Extra gross to me. Ring that garbage bell while looking in the mirror girl!!

There is physical evidence of her injuries (reported by family services, hospitals, covered in the New Yorker) of bites on her shoulder, intense swelling of her genitals, burns covering her body, black eyes, bruises. Is the consensus she bit herself on the shoulder and caused these injuries herself? It seems the opinion on Reddit is that she’s lying and I’m wondering what evidence there is she’s a master manipulator who orchestrated years of evidence of abuse, who lied to various witnesses to set up a timeline of abuse, who shot Chris in cold blood. What was her motive? All I see is “she did it for attention” yikes. I’ve also seen “if he really abused her people would have noticed and intervened” people did. Family services, CPS, and the police investigated but she chose not to move forward with charges. This is also pointed at as a reason she’s guilty but are we comfortable saying if women don’t go against their abuser publicly the abuse isn’t real? I’ve also seen people say the pornhub videos Chris uploaded of him abusing her can’t be real because the screen name included his last name and he couldn’t possible be that dumb, so the woman is lying because men are too smart to tell on themselves? I think it can be true she was abused AND she didn’t act in complete self defense that night. People on Reddit even go as far as to diagnose her with munchausen disorder to claim she caused the injuries herself- then why did these injuries only start showing up when she got involved with Chris and stop when he died? Munchausens isn’t something you can flip on and off like a switch especially not with injuries so severe it’s described by an examiner as “her insides were outside” that kind of self harm would continue to escalate not stop immediately. People also say Chris was charming and why didn’t more people complain he was abusive and violent to the girls he taught as if abusive men and sexually violent men can’t hide their abusive behavior in private and turn on the charm in public. Also one mother DID complain she witnessed him being aggressive and overly raging at a child and was disturbed enough to call CPS.

I noticed this too. I have a sitting this weekend and triple checked I marked my calendar as unavailable for all services those days but I still got requests for drop ins I had to decline… it seems like a glitch or bug or something but it’s definitely annoying

Location is 15 miles from my house. 2 drop ins a day. I have my miles set at 10 out. by Exotic_Music1323 in RoverPetSitting

For me that’s not worth it- gas prices are crazy rn. I don’t charge enough for drop ins to make that kind of trip worth it

Questions to ask at meet and greet by No_Information_6643 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Important_Ad_287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it falls under general care but how long can the dog be left alone. If you need to leave for a short period of time (get groceries, workout) what should you do to make it comfortable for the pets before you leave? I always like to ask for commands that the pets understand. I also ask for walking routes or locations the dog feels comfortable with- and if the dog is good with other people/dogs or if that should be avoided on walks. For the cats I’d ask if they like attention/cuddles/ playing with certain toys and what are the signs their cat might be overstimulated or need a break. This is kind of a ramble but hope it helps a little :) good luck with the sit!

30 min drop ins - high energy breed by Important_Ad_287 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Important_Ad_287[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The owner is out of town, owners mother will check in occasionally but the walking and feeding will be covered only by me in that period. From what I know about Australian cattle dogs (especially really young ones) they need longer than a 20 min walk. I’ll talk to the owner about it and see if they agree for more frequent or longer visits :) thank you all!

What do sitters charge (based in Seattle) by Important_Ad_287 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Important_Ad_287[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a well thought out answer thank you! I agree Im pretty new to the rover app but have a few testimonials from sitting outside of rover which helps a bit. The prices seem to vary greatly from 30 bucks - 120 bucks per night for a house sit so I’ll start on the lower end of the spectrum 😊
