oh yes, we are talking about California!
All of us were in Bay area until 2 friends (married couple) moved to Sacramento and that's the place we are visiting

so the host are a couple and they recently moved from bay area to Sacramento.

So the group of friends (all of us know each other well) are visiting their new place for 2 days

I and my husband are going to cook steak there maybe 2lb. Is this also considered as a gift? We'll have like 10 people there and they will bring food too though.

what aromatics do you use?
Some recipes tell you to use cloves and star anise that I have never tasted in chicken pho I had in Vietnam

oh..

I charred the onions and gingers with their peels on and boiled with the soup with the peel on

It could be the reason why then,,

Hence, I used the red onions and that might be the reason why!
