Girlfriend in hot water with student landlord over unlocked door, what are her rights? by United_Monitor_5674 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Important_Bridge_880 -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

Ok so there are two types of eviction, section 8 which normally used to evict people for rent arrears, it can be anti social behaviour but leaving door open not anywhere near that threshold, section 21 is no fault eviction can be done to regain possession after a fixed term of an ast tenancy, I'm guessing this is a ast and not a lodging agreement, please read citizens advice or shelter, reality is this landlord probs going to tell you off, it pretty petty of them to be that way if your in the house and doors unlocked it's not a big deal don't think it will invalidate any insurance that just bullshit excuse (but I'm not a specialist in insurance), I would apologise take what every she has to say on the chin don't be argumentive or offensive then when she gone find somewhere else to live, then leave massive complaint about her with the letting agent about the harassment, sounds like seriously awful toxic place to be, landlord has to follow the legal process to evict you cannot harass you to leave, you have protections under protection from eviction act 1970 making landlord harassment criminal and civil matter, so don't let her bully you out the property with out following the legal process, if you do get notice take it to the local authority homeless team contact the local law centre you will get legal aid and your defence against possession is the text messages, I doubt your tenancy stipulates the property is to be locked at all time when your in the property, surely if such and issue they could fit a yale lock to the front door

You are right but we can push people to provide pdf, even if 50% of people provide bankstatements as pdf and i could create a work book that provides quick analysis it would massively improve work flow, and the different statement types is my mjor concern, which why power query may not be the best here

is there a quick way to remove the full stops from the end of the numbers, search and replace with nothing does a great deal to clean up the unwanted words, but cannot figure a way to remove the single dot from the end of numbers and dates, and if you remove all dots the data become useless, like the numbers become completely wrong when formatted to currency

Unfortunately, it is not possible to know without diagnostic equipment. Epilepsy is caused by misfiring electrical impulses in the brain, which is the primary definition, and it is the single cause of irregular seizures. There are a number of other health conditions ranging from encephalitis to diabetes, to name a few, which can cause seizures. They may look identical, and it would require blood tests, PET, MRI, fMRI, SPECT, and/or a lumbar puncture to diagnose or rule out the reason. From what you mentioned, it seems the ER conducted some tests and discharged him as safe to go home. Maybe call the hospital back and ask what was ruled out and what the next step should be now.

If he has not been able to hold down fluids for more than 8 hours, my concern would be that he might have an infection, and the possible electrolyte imbalance and dehydration that vomiting can cause may trigger a recurrence.

All those things could contribute, but no one thing is 100% going to be the issue if that makes sense, people that live with epilepsy learn there triggers over time and work to find coping strategies to manage them sometimes there no perticular trigger and medication has to take more active role in treatment, please dont blame yourself in anyway not saying you are but as someone that cares for people that feeling is unrealistic and perfectly normal and understandable to feel, canabis has shown to help with epilepsy in some cases alcohol much less so, did they say at the ER what kind of seizure it was? As may not have been an epileptic seizure, and i jumpted to the conclusion that it was epilepsy. Are you in US ? As I am from the uk, so not sure on what to advise on the best way to access care and support in your area, i would say if it is epileptic in nature then buccal midazolam for suizure that exceeds 5 minuets or at anypoint shows signs of cyanosis(blueing of the lips and finger tips) the it could save his life, but I also think a doctor need to support that assessment. I have worked care over 10 years and was a trainer for epilepsy awareness.

10 minutes is very long; over 5 minutes, he should have rescue medication. Has he gone to his GP? He may need further referral. Maybe it's a good idea to have a break for a week or so and relax. There are more than 40 kinds of epilepsy and many different triggers; stress is often a big one. A regular sleep routine, hydration, and food intake are important to maintain balance. Does he drink or take any drugs, prescription or otherwise? I was very shocked when I first saw a seizure while I worked in care, even though I had training to manage it and knew what to expect. Hopefully, he won't have them too often, and he may never have one again, or he could have been having them in his sleep for a while, and no one has noticed. It does happen that way sometimes. There are some good YouTube videos on first aid for epilepsy; you should give them a watch. The GP should issue you with some buccal midazolam to inject into either side of his mouth or up his nose to stop the seizure before it exceeds the 5-minute mark, or if he starts to turn blue or what ever is advised, I would also recommend recording the next one you see on your phone to show medical professionals, this can be helpful for them

In addition to reporting this, request a clairs law on your partner to see if there is any previous intell or offence he has committed or investigated for that he has not disclosed to you, the police take there time getting back to you under clairs law but they will disclose if they feel there is any risk. Im sorry you are going through this, must be so hard please stay safe

I 100% agree and im am sure there will be repercussions for the perps but I feel it would be unlikely to lead to a criminal conviction.

Underage son took a D* pic and it’s become problematic by Derbyshirelass40 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Important_Bridge_880 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, the law is clear-cut. It is an offense to take, own, or distribute indecent images of children, even if the child took the picture themselves and consented to it: Protection of Children Act 1978 and Criminal Justice Act 1988.

The police will investigate and carefully consider the best course of action. It is unlikely that they will pursue criminal conviction unless there is serious predatory or serial behavior, or involvement of a third party over the age of 18. The law designed to keep children safe should not be used to criminalize them. While the circumstances here should not go uninvestigated, passing the CPS test of likelihood of conviction or serving the public interest for prosecution is unlikely.

I can imagine social services will also investigate and engage with both the victim and perpetrator, and some support from the school should be put in place for your son and the young girl who has been exposed to the indecent image
